Hey people, I've booked my driving test and my instructor's car is booked at the same time at another centre (grr) so I want to use my car.

So for those of you in the know:

Do I need dual controls? Do I need anything else? MOT certificate, insurance docs etc?

Sorry if this is a bit random, but I wanna check to see if anyone knows on here.

Thanks. :D

All you need is a licence holder to supervise you to and (hopefully not) from the test. Normal insurance for you to drive etc. That's all. - Wouldn't need to prove any documents to the examiner except your provisional.
Good luck!

You'll take the usual documentation with you - theory test, licence, ID etc. The only thing you need to do to the car is have an extra mirror for the examiner. Obviously you need someone else to take you to the test centre. Also, they always advise that someone else drives home afterwards, even if you've passed. No idea why.

They don't usually check the vehicle documents, and if its your car you are going to be more comfortable opening the hood and checking the oil, water etc as they make you do that these days!

When I took mine, Kate and I took all the documents just incase we got stopped by a copper playing a joke or something, you know what plod can be like. But I'd be surprised if your examiner wanted to see them.

I wouldn't think it is the candidates job to supply this.

Not all examiners would use this anyway and I thought they would have supplied thier own if they wanted to use one.

Good luck with the test.

Good luck with the test. Yeah the letter you get from dsa states you need to supply one, the examiner I had prefered to use his own one tho.

Have a look here (http://www.dsa.gov.uk/Category.asp?cat=103). You have to provide a mirror for the examiners use. If you take the test in an instructors car it is fitted anyway, but if it is your car you will have to make sure there is one for the examiner.

Oh :o I stand corrected.

I recently took another driving test (with the chief class one police examiner for Essex  ) and did not supply a mirror and he didn't ask for one, which is a good job as I didn't have one.
