Had an interview today at AP Geotechnics..... and i got the job, offered it to me on the spot.

Only part time, and it's admin based but will start working in the laboratory too and the best part is.... the boss met Lupo and said he'll be more than welcome to come to work with me as he takes his dog Brock.

All i need to do is learn how to drive as i can't see lupo sitting on the back of my motorbike for too long But at least i'll be home for 2pm at the latest for Lupo's lunch and i get to play with him all afternoon

I start Monday!!!

Congratulations, btw!

The company is based on the Brunel Uni campus in Englefield Green. it's in the science suite. they are engineering based, but have a chemistry lab next to my office for soil samples. They Analyse the soil on greenfield and brownfield sites to determine whether they are safe to build on. But looks very interesting :d

Really? That could be right up my street.

Mind you, Analytical Chemistry is one tough business, your always watching your back and paranoidly checking data to make sure its reliable and shows what its meant to show

Congrats!! =D> From what you are saying you are taking the job to get a 'foot in the door' what to you ultimately want to be doing!?

What do they do there??? "AP Geotechnics" sounds like they might make devices to measure earthquakes or summin!?!?

Why would you want to take your mutt to work? Won't it be a distraction?!!?? I am surprised H&S don't have something to say about that sort of thing too ...

Congrats Sammy

Just one thing though . . .

. . . rather than take Lupo to work with you in the car, why don't you teach him the route, buy that sled (on wheels) you mentioned before & let Lupo take YOU to work thereby gaining a few minutes extra zzzzzz's on the way ? 8)

H & S wouldn't have an issue, he wouldn't be in the lab he would be in my office where he can't get to anything. The job is a stepping stone to get me back into the industry after being out of it for so long.

The company are geological engineering... surveys and stuff making sure buildings can be built there and not on contaminated land etc.

As for Lupo giving me a lift to work... think the 25 odd miles would take our time to do and he really isn't a morning dog lol... besides wont be able to do the distance in the summer poor lad hehehe.

Ahh, I see, why did you 'come out' of the industry?

I am sure the little dude would love to be round his mum all day, but if I was a fellow office worker at your place I'd not like to have someone elses mutt about at work ... imagine if ppl were allowed to take their kids to work every day ;)

Leave him in the comfort of his own home and travel on the bike 8) ... He'll give you even more fuss when you return home after work that way too ;)

p.s. I am a dog lover ... but I still wouldn't want dogs at my work ..

my boss brings his dog in the office every day. I like having him around, but I would prefer to have my own dog around, but we can't both do it! Would be manic. You have a point, but it depends on the individuals, some dog people are potty for dogs, and it helps them relax having them around.

It's a pretty small company and i wouldn't be taking lupo in everyday anyway, besides i'm not driving yet lol so got a little while before this can happen. But the company is very relaxed and all are dog lovers (all 8 staff lol).

We'll see how things go, obviously on the best days of the summer lupo would rather be left at home in the cool rather than in a warm office :) and i'll want to take the bike instead lol.

Dog issues aside, its great news congrats :)

P.s. I've got Air-Con in my office .... perhaps I should look after Lupo for a few days in the heat of summer!?!? ;)

Speaking as a Chemist, I've always had an affinity with Anthony Warrell Thompson......boiling funny-colour goo up in pots, making strange smells and occasionally setting fire to things. And then cooking the results at the end

Just caught up with this, well done :D sounds like a sweet deal being able to take Lupo with you as well.

Just one thing though, when you pass your driving test are you going to take him to work in a certain VW supermini?

hahaha your so funny lol. ;) ... BBC keeps telling me about her Lupo too lol. Looking at getting a car big enough to fit him, plus all of his rigging/sledding equipment. Probably some kind of 4x4 as most of the tracks are in the midle of the woods lol
