No not me, but the weather. Had to recover all our recyling rubbish (Useless storage boxes have no lids). The wheely bin has gone over and waste blown down road.
Local council when we complain, say "store your waste indoors and put it out just before your fortnightly collection", no thanks.
Still glad I don't have to ride a bike in this weather

Meh, I'd be working from home today if I didn't have to do an install in Cardiff. The bridge is probably not going to be a fun place on a bike.

^ old one is, but you only have to sneeze for them to get worried and close that one. Can't find any mention of the M4 crossing being closed and I just looked on a webcam, not busy but certainly has traffic on it.

Always.
Pah, you midland/northern lot dont know what wind is....*goes into when i was a lad mode*
Back in '87 when the south of england was flattened, my wheelybin was found in nearby Surrey, i took my dog for a flight, and Sevenoaks became oak....now that was windy
40mph average windspeed here, gusting to 80mph  and I'm still commuting on the bike.
Fair play to my dad though, asking me if I want to borrow his car. He retracted the offer when I asked him his thoughts on filtering in the car.
seriously tho, why would you ride a bike in wind like this? gusting to 80mph? i'm sorry but drive the car. if bike is your only transport, what journey is so important you have to risk you life for? and lets be honest isn't that what you'd be doing

I was already to get the bike this morning, but Jax insisted that I take the car. So I was 15 minutes late for work... :(

Even Liz took the car to work this morning, which for her is pretty unusual. I rode to work though but my commute is only a couple of miles and its all at low speed.
keithd, I appreciate the concern. But the car is far slower, even when I've backed off the speed on the bike. NSL's the fastest I'll ride in this weather is around 55mph.
Yea, the wind blows you around, but if you think about what you're doing, and take your cue from the trees/bushes etc, it's fine. Using your weight into the wind helps too.

According to news stuffs over here, severn bridge is closed....
left my bike at home, not too worried about riding there... its the blowing over when its left on its own Im more worried about!
Several trees down around here. I wish the ones up against my fence would blow down. And the river looks like it's going to flood again with all this Welsh rain
Rivers around here are looking "nice & healthy." Lucky for me I'm 32m above sea level, on a hill, about 3 miles from the sea :)

Dude! Your crazy!
Stay safe, and that goes for everyone else at all.
If i have to ride in this weather, I take breaks regularly. Its hard work fighting the wind.

Keith, i see where you are coming from, but i dont really think its bad as people think. They all think they are going to get blown off thier bikes etc. I suppose im either just mad or a rufty tuffty biker!!
I commuted in the car today.
More so because I couldn't be bothered to bump start the bike again (crap battery, won't hold a charge) rather than the wind.

I've been told that by many a person, but I do have a capacity for sensability. If I judge something too risky, I don't do it, simple, just that I will push the envelope more than most would, I admit.
But I'm with viney on this one, park somewhere out of the wind if possible, and ride with caution (no different to normal then).

Am snowed in  Got about three miles up the road but it was so bad I came home again
hey I got blown off my bike last thursday, actually just blew me over as I pulled up to some lights, no damage done.
Wasn't going to take the chance again today, well windy on the A3 into London.

I'm with you on this Viney - i've ridden loads in very windy conditions and it really isn't that much of a problem. Funnily enough the worst place seems not to be at high speeds on open roads but actually in town (like riding along the Embankment in London) or while you're stopped (as per AlanSV)
I've just looked out of the window and watched a neighbours pair of terracotta planters with 4ft fir tress rolling up the road past my house - very funny
It sure is windy, and riding or not take care guys, I've already seen one car this morning with a tree on it.

well I have had to advise 3 neighbours that they have lost ridge tiles. One poor lady has lost not only the ridge tiles on her hip roof but about 5ft square of roof as well. She is devastated that some tiles fell through her conservatory roof.
The A6 down the road from me closed in both directions. A tree down in one direction and a truck turned over in the other

well i went home for lunch to pick up the bits i had forgotten, frick me its gotten worse out there, i got hit by a branch (oww!!) and thought i was coming off once, a real brown trouser moment! The problem is, ive still got to go home on it later, hopefully it will have died down by 4:30
The wind has really got up in the last hour here. Luckily I am not on my bike but still have to drive over the cat and fiddle in my light as a feather Subaru .... eeek!
Don't care what you guys say, it is dangerous out there on a bike right now, please take care.

"Interesting" ride at lunchtime. Lost the front after one particular gust of wind (I was accelerating and the front had gone light), but managed not to drop it.

Haha! I'm only playing, I dont mean it as an insult. Actualy, i rather admire the bravery and the skill involved. Its hard riding in the wind.
My neighbours scooter has fallen over onto the grass verge. I was gonna pick it up but instead I've left it on its side; that way it won't blow over again and do more damage.
My bike is still standing up, quite well shielded! Very scared about the fence, its blowing side to side rather furiously :?

Well, apparently the MD of Birmingham airport has been killed by a tree/branch falling on his car :o :o
And one of the windows from the 7th floor of our building has blown out, nearly landing on two of the guys from work who were walking past down below :o :o
I rode to work this morning and it was fine but the wind seems to have picked up since. Still planning on riding home but not exactly looking forward to it!

I nearly got blown over on the bike on the way to work this morning pulling up to a junction to turn right. And on the way home going over a flyover in the left hand lane towards chertsy, wind blew me into the right hand lane and nearly into the barriers :( made the bike feel like it didn't weigh anything and felt like the wheels were being blown out from underneath me... felt horrible. any faster than 50mph and i was being blown into the curb. Plus all the debris that hit me.
Hopefully it will have cleared up tomorrow.

Our A3 (north) is also closed, but not because of the winds... just a small diesel spill, 20 miles long, which has already caused a number of accidents. The smartarse that caused it has already been arrested though.

no wind here either...or Snow...hee hee...
My poor little greenhouse has finally gone for a burton and spread itself over the bottom of the garden - luckily it was only one of those 'temporary' plastic sheeting affairs - but it had stood up quite well till now.
It may well be repairable but is probably best left as a tangle of bars and plastic with a few choice planks of wood thrown over its corpse to keep it from going on vacation to the neighbours.
Otherwise it's not too bad, just gusty and wet.
It was "fun" filtering down the A13 into London this morning but hearing how all you daisies are worried about the wind has gotten me worried about the commute home. :?
It was funny to see one of my work colleague in the car park picking his 4 month old GSX-R750 K6 that he just got the insurance company to pay £3000 to get it fixed from the last time he dropped it. I even had a conversation with him last week about getting some R&Gs fitted to save on his insurance claims but he concluded that they would look naff even though he's dropped it 4 times already.
I guess you deserve it when your first bike is a brand new GSX-R750, you end up under a car within 6 months, with permanent back damage. You then wait for 3 years without riding a bike and once you win the insurance claim you take the money and buy yourself another new GSX-R750.

Yup some people do just ask for it. Oh well, hopefully his back isn't too bad, and hopefully when he comes off next time, it'll be low speed.

Well that's one way of looking at it I suppose
and hopefully when he comes off next time, it'll be low speed.
It was a low speed drop at no more than 20mph coming into the main road from a side road in the rain, he spun the rear tire, the bike started to wobble and threw him off. His helmet hit the side of the pavement causing him to pass out. That was only a month ago and the insurance company nearly wrote it off but in the end they paid £3000 to get it fixed.
It was so windy on the Torpoint ferry this morning, I had to help paddle it across the Tamar - no really - single handed - and it was fully loaded - go on then, hit me in the stomach *tenses stomach muscles and becomes invincible to pain*

I was quite impressed when the wind didn't just cause the bike to veer across the road, it physically slid the bike sideways.
I have to admit, that was probably the closest I've ever come to actually being blown off the bike, but it was certainly bearable.

i think a lot of people left work early yesterday, i know my work kicked out about 2.30 due to the power failing.
there were 3 trees down on my way home though, and wen i got to work this morning, the main entrance was closed with a huge tree blocking the way in. had to use the exit only, and there was another huge conifer type tree knocked over with all the roots out too.
Was a much better ride to work this morning though... i didn't nearly get thrown off a bridge or anything :D happy days

Couple of fences down near us, a few twigs fallen on cars, and a few broken tree's.
Oh, and the wind turned round the sign for Surbiton train station, now it points in the opposite direction; as does the arrow pointing to tolworth
Oh, and my girlfriend's guinea pigs hutch got blown over, then the roof of it came off! They were found hiding under their newspaper, shivering and coveed in mud. Poor things :(
