Puncture repair kit

Read a thread recently about "what to take" when touring. As space on these "jollies" is always at a premium, what does a puncture repair usually consist of, how much space does is take up and how reliable are they (are they worth the carriage).
Any advice / experiences on this topic would be great

I got one from Hein Gericke. Kit is about the size of a fag packet and consists of (from memory):

Glue
Borer
3 Bungs
3 CO2 bottles
Instructions (mine got wet and became on very thick page)

If you get a puncture you remove the nail (or whatever it is), rough the sides of the hole with the borer (it has a rough file-type section on it), cover a bung with glue and force it in with the borer. Then re-inflate the tyre with the CO2 (probably not enough to get to full pressure though. Might be a blade somewhere too, to trim off any excess bung sticking out.

All this is just a temporary fix and it seems a bit of a faff TBH but I suppose it beats pushing the bike to the nearest garage.

Mattsv his or I think it was Scoobs' one to fix a puncture that he got whilst we were on the North / South last year. He rode all the way home on it with no problems. We kept the speed down though.

It was good enough to get him home. IMHO it works better than the Holts Tyreweld stuff you can buy and it takes up less room.

I have just added this to my bike tool kit. I had a couple of punctures last year and these would have saved some time (e.g. to be recovered home). I can imagine being on the continent it would massively increase the stress/hassle to get a fix without it.

Scoobs persuaded me to take one on the Norf/Sarf. After a great day riding at silly speeds, I got a puncture on the way back to the hotel.

We tried fixing it with an aerosol but that was a waste of time.

Put a plug in it and it lasted the 300 odd miles home with no problem - as Fizz said, I kept the speeds down to 70 (ish) and it was fine.

Crafty Plugger was recommended to me avail from Essential Rubber or Chas bikes.
Doesn't come with air .
But seems to still be working for me.
