I'll probably come along to watch on the 23rd May, if that is the chosen day. I won't be doing the actual trackday as its two days after I get back from Le Mans so I'll be a bit skint.
With this in mind I've not voted. So there :D
Be good to meet a few peeps tho' :D
OOh, so CC it is then :D
I won't be voting either as I'm easy on any of those dates.
Count me in hovi5 :riding: :riding:

"Bikes must be fitted with their original factory fitted silencer. We try to discourage competition machines, due to the strict sound regulations in place for the track days."
Well that's me out of it.
But never mind, I'll have to use the £250 of focussed Events vouchers my family gave me for my 50th birthay and hire a race preped R6 at Brands...GLOAT GLOAT

Give them a call, they are under a lot of strain from the anti race locals who got the limit lowered last year (or one before?), a non standard can should be OK if its quiet enough. I'll need to get my bike checked as the Yoshi might not pass and its a pain to swap over with all the exhaust valve cabling malarky.
I will have to see what my finances are like nearer the time to decide a date.

I was going to take the bike to the track to make sure it's legal.
Hovi5, give them a call (or much better write to them (address on the web page) and get the answer in writing) and check first that you'll be OK with the road legal Scorpion assuming it fits the noise requirements.

just phoned CC you can pop down & get bike tested 3rd 19th 20th feb (very advisable)
NOT advisable to use other equipment as it may be a differant reading & they will only go by their readings.
all bikes will be checked (road legal cans may still fail)
group booking 10+ = 1 free
BOOK A.S.A.P
how about a rideout including time to go to CC for testing?

 i thought i might leave that to MOFO with a bit of knowlage of the area
any takers?
Well, I'll give the rideout a miss, but will be going down to get it tested, probably on the 3rd then. Mrs C is due to drop sprog number 2 on the 21st Feb so don't think I'll be too popular if I'm out on a rideout when she goes into labour "hold it in love I'm out on the bike, it'll have to wait"
Even then, its still posible labour can start anytime so it'll be wacky races all the way to CC and back just incase.
it is advisable to make sure that you get your bike tested before the track day as Castle coombe have to be very very strict on who they allow on their track..
SH not a hope in hell my friend not with that hideous sounding can ;) (not bitter honest ;) )

I'm just going to strap my original can to the bike... if any-ones else's curvy passes with one on then I know I'll be fine.

Hate to tell you Beenz but they say that a standard GSX-R K6 upwards is too loud, though you have a thou don't you? you might be alright:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING SOUND TESTING
Manufacturers are now launching bikes with shorter Moto GP style exhausts.
Whilst they look great, the smaller silencer means that some of these new bikes are over our noise limits. We do appreciate the frustration of buying a brand new road legal bike only to discover that it is too loud to ride at Castle Combe.
In our experience the following machines may not pass our strict limits:-
Suzuki GSXR600 – 2006 model
GSXR 750 K6 & K7
Yamaha R6 – 2006 model
taken from their website.
Thanks Kate, I read that also. It does not look good for me.
I know my gixer thou even with the standard odd looking can sounds a tad fruity when it revs because of the funny cable operated valve opens just in front of the muffler, with the yoshi even with the baffle in sounds a tad louder.
I don't think it's got much chance of passing. Thankfully I only live a few miles away so it's no trouble to get it checked.
I could fit a Scorpion that I can't (won't) afford that should pass according to the clever people at the factory who seem to know what they are on about. They use a dummy valve thing so you don't get the FI error as they don't have the valve in the system. From what I recall from talking to them the valve is mainly operated to restrict the noise for the EU.
Oh well, if it's too loud then I'll just go and watch the other loons and take photos/make tea/laugh at the others

They'll hear you coming down the motorway
You could really **** the tester off and shoot some flames back at him when he's recording the sound level
Not entirely sure I'll be down tomorrow now :?
Seems like Santa may have come a month late and left me a new steed (more details later when it is confirmed) so its not guaranteed I'll be able to ride the SV for much longer.
The SV will still be in the garage and hopefully I'll have a multi bike policy by the trackday but we'll see in a week or two.

As I needed to pop down to 'nam I decided to head a little further down the road and found myself outside the scrutineering hut on Castle Combe circuit.
So I gave the guys there a giggle by asking them to test the noise level or my bike...
So with the track limit at 105db I clocked up an impressive 110.06db (I'm quite pleased of the .06!)
Will have to change cans if I want to get on track then
But they were quite friendly and pleased that I had came down for a test and prefer people to do that rather then turn up on the day to be told NO. So I will be making another trip down there sometime with a different can a would recommend you all do the same.

I bimbled over at about 4:00 this afternoon, got mine tested with the road legal yoshi on (still with the baffle in). At two thirds revs the thing screams, 110.0db  so I'll be saving my money. The standard can may be a tad quieter but is a pain to fit, lots of messing about to switch cans on the gixer thou, no where near as simple as the SV.
So I'll not be going.
Its worth noting that 3db means double the power (noise) so 6db above is 4 times the noise.
I was gonna go but went off test riding a Trumpet :D
And by jove it was good....in fact it was that good i bought the bloody thing :drink:
See in photo section....wooohooooooo!!
I've joined the darkside like Beenz, Fizz n Stretchie :D

Cracking news Cuffy, another multi that Squirrel Hunter will ride around the outside of
So when do the mods start, tail tidy, mini indies, small plate etc ?
Good to see its not in learner yella and is the faster red colour apart from the tooth paste gixer livery of course.
cuffy.....................this is not one of your jokes is it???
well done nice bike.......you leaving the WELSH DRAGON on her?

Mines louder than yours \:D/
Not sure what I'm going to do now, could put the standard one back on, but I know I will feel a difference. Or I could try the twins, or at least one of the twins, but thats going to be no guarantee.
Could get it repacked... na!
Or if I get my ass in gear I could try for project CBR, ah decisions decisions...
I'll ponder a different track methinks.
When I was there the chap was talking about a new ride by test that was under discussion where they were going to 'trial' diferent bikes from the bike makers in the next two months or so, all may not be lost.
If mine fails now I just might remove the baffle and enjoy it

I know they measure the sound at 0.5m but where from? Is it 0.5m behind the exhaust outlet or 0.5m to the side of the exhaust outlet? Tested mine this evening with the Remus Revo and go 111.3 dBA behind the outlet and 103 dBA to the side of the outlet, both readings at 8000rpm. Neighbours are not happy

It was measured to the side and he was kind enough to move the sensor away from the bike before it backfired once the throttle was closed.
So it looks like you should be ok. But please do not take my word for it, get them to test it.

Hello south west peeps...
Although I've migrated from Southampton to Norwich my SV and other half still live in Weymouth... I really want to get a track day under my belt when the weathers better so may join you. Gotta get some leave booked first
Sounds like I might need to get mine tested too - the Devil on there at the moments mighty fruity! Would be a shame to put the OE 'thing' back on so hopefully OK with baffle in... Trying to sell the SV (for house fees) but thinking of getting an R6 - another of the banned noisy bikes!! Oh dear!
How far ahead do I need to book as I don;t know about work yet?
