socommk23 and I went minimotoing last night ... it was a good crack as always, and nice to have some new people to go with ... oh and the boy did good for his first time 8) (probably add more detail later ;)).

... but as always my bike/s let me down several times during the night  ... the finale was this ...

That was a brand new tyre for that evening too

But how cool is that?!!? a minimoto tyre with hemorrhoids 8)

Chinky import or proper Blata/Polini one?

I miss bombing round a closed off carpark and set out track on mine (Friends used to love bombing round everywhere, i hated it).

Do you happen to know anywhere that does minimoto days? like go karting where a big group can have a go for an hour or so?

Yes ... and that is where I go!! :D ... http://www.minimoto.co.uk/contacts_links.html

Its indoors so not weather dependent either 8)

It is a ruddy long way for me mind  ... but as I have no other alternative, make the trip!! :)

How far is Hullavington, Wilts SN14 6BT from you?

There are other venues dotted about the country, but that is the most local indoor to me (still 110 miles away!! )

hey guys.

im really suffering at the mo....seems the little incident that even i shrugged off that i had has actually caused slight concussion! eek!

nothing too seriouse though....few briuses.....but thats expected while trying to keep up with blue!

damn he fast!

i had my lines all picked out! and missed every single one!

the only thing i doidnt miss was the damn tyre walls!

a few low sides later...and i think i was getting quicker, but stil the 7 yo looked like he was on a fireblade!

heyho

was an exelent day!

now im off to oxford tomoro to pick up a minimoto my friend just bought! lol
knew it wouldnt take long!

Further than 110 miles??? ;)

socommk23 - it was funny seeing you going way-way too deep in the corners and ending up on all the slippy stuff!! :D ... honestly though dude, at the moment you need to go a little slower before you can go faster ;) Its all a learning curve though and at least you were attacking it full steam ahead 8) 10 out of 10 for an artistic set of 'recovery' lines!! :D

Oh and I prolly have some of your paintwork still on the side of my bike!! ... can I have mine back too plz?!?! :D

Crashing is all part of it and as long as you walk away its all good 8) ... Unfortunately I didn't see you crash once! :D

Its also a shame my mates onboard camera wasn't working properly :(

socommk23
29-01-07, 06:19 PM
those lines were great...the recovery ones.

as i said to you blue....it wouldnt havebeen half as much fun without the crashes.

and as for the going a little too fast....that was the best bit...then getting on the breaks hard!

think i done a great line on every corner....just nat all on the same lap!

practice makes perfect and all that!

would be good to have more people on the track...was so much more fun battling it out with you! though im sure you were just playing around, you made it so much fun and so much more intence!

oh and im keeping the paint as i was thinking of red stripes on my black bike anyway and it looks cool!

was an awesome bit of mid corner contact! and i didnt back down or come off! (on that one)

Its the way you go barreling in, then just seem to fail to actually turn!! ... every time a winner too!! Classic!! :D

Your mate was just the opposite .. he’d brake at about the right point then over brake and virtually stop … he would make the turn every time, but very tight and completely lost all momentum … so I concluded if you took the average trajectory between the pair of you, you might have the perfect lap!! :D I was impressed by how well you both took to it though ... although your lines were totally outrageous ... and well comical at times ... :D ... you were quicker than your mate ... that'll give you bragging rights down the pub!! 8)

Yeah, its always more fun elbowing someone you know!! :D … even better when 3 or 4 of you are dukeing it out 8)

What did your mate do about that Polini in the end??

socommk23

the deuling is what makes it sooooooo much fun! cant wait till next time.

we is off to pick up the polini tomoro i believe.

8) When they are set up properly they last longer ... I need to have a look at mine ...

It won't last for ever mind (how worn is it? they also seem to have exponential wear rates), so I'd start putting pennies aside for a proper Polini Kevlar one, but with any luck that'll last you another visit or two 8)

The only w/e I can do this month is next w/e (11th) if you can make that, I'll give my mate Paul a shout, hopefully he and 'Sam' (Blata Elite like Pauls) can make it too?!?!

I'll give Paul a buzz ... Has Daves mate got a bike too?!!? ... we could dominate the pack if all 6 of us are out at once .... we could gang up on all the kids by working as a pack - cornering them and then steam roll the little bu66ers!!!! 8) :D

if that is 6.5 in the same way the Elite's 4.2s are 4.2s (i.e. in reality put out about 8hp) ... that could be a 10+hp stonker 8) ... or if it is a true hp, then a 6.5hp pile!! :D

Thats weird ... you do have .wmv files associated with windows media player right??? the codecs should only be standard media player ones, so I doubt it is even that (what version are you running?!) ... it works ok at home and at work for me ... anoyone else experiencing problems?

p.s. Paul new piston is due to be delivered today and he is up for hully on Sunday 8)

For the track as it is now, 76t I reckon is about right, my 78t on my #1 revvs out far to early ... unfortunately I can only find a 78 or 74on fleBay at the mo so take your pick ... I bought a neat talon one from the minimoto place itself, but it was £15 IIRC ... ;)

How did you get the old ones out?? Impact driver?!?!? Has Dave tried his bike out yet?? :)

Nice one 8)

Who cares what it looks like?? just use it an abuse it ... you don't want it to be looking all nice then be a tart about not wanting to crash it or be in tears that the paint gets scratched WHEN (not if) I elbow you off it!!! ;) :D

If you have money to waste on frivolity - there are much productive places to be throwing it (Polini clutch or 50cc big-bore)!! ;)

na...dont need to paint it when i gonna be looking good out accelerating ya like last time!

even dave said your tyres were more convincing on cornering!

Blue_SV650S
07-02-07, 09:35 AM
...

I did say that I preferred the 'wet' tyres as give better 'feel' hence why I took the slicks off even though they were new ;) But you wanted some slicks coz they are cool! :D

Remember, the slicks should ultimately give more grip, but you need to get and keep the heat in them ... that is hard this time of year, but the slicks will come into their own in the summer ... do you want your old tyres back!? ;)

We could play about with the pressures a bit on the slicks to try and get some more heat in them ... you could also drop the front end a little ...

Oh and if the pair of you would stay on the grippy part of the track it'd give you more confidence in the grip!! :D You also pick up all sorts of rubbish on the tyres when you go off line ...

socommk23
07-02-07, 04:29 PM
yeah yeah yeah!

know it all!

Blue_SV650S

yeah yeah yeah!

know it all!

:D

Hey, you kept it rubber side down a hell of a lot more than I did when I first started going ;) ...

But its true, going offline really is a problem there ... its not just the ‘marbles’ but where the bikes are 2-stoke and its indoors, there is a lot of oil vapour 'fallout' all round the track ... if you go offline you end up it with tyres covered in this oil residue (bikes tend to keep the racing line clear) ... then the nex few corners will feel horrible, so you will go slower, slide a bit and loose heat!! As you were going offline at say 3 of the corners every lap, you are never going to be having clean tyres or keep the heat in ;) Again with the treaded tyres move about they 'clear' the deposits more easily than slicks ...

With this in mind you are not really giving the tyres their best chance here ;) Its amazing, even after a little off and picking the bike up again and riding off, it takes a couple laps to get the heat back in the tyres (slicks in particular) and clean them up!

I am not trying to be a ‘know it all’, but I learned this all the hard-way meseln and trying to save you the bother/pain!! ;)
