Was wondering what you guys would recommend.

I know there are loads of variables but....

1 year license 1 year no claims, no convictions. Old enough not to be considered stupid, err i think.

So far I have had a couple of quotes at roughly £400 Full Comp with excess (£200 Voluntary)
ebike / motorcycle direct.

1 of £361 witha £750 compulsary excess and £300 voluntary. (The 750 wasn't indicated until the quote was complete)

Do these sound reasonable? Any suggestions to try?

Cheers

What flavour of bike is it, and how old? Cos with a £1000 excess you'd need to utterly destroy most SVs to get even a penny. I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole, might as well just go TPF&T I reckon.

£400 comp with a £200 excess wees on that, frankly... But you might be able to beat that still, I'd keep looking. And of course, when they ask "what have you been offered already", lie :)

when i got got my first bike quotes i tried bennets, Carlo Nash, and A Quote.

I got quotes on line from Bennets, and A Quote (Carlo Nash didnt do online quotes! hence the reason for the rest of this lil story)

I then phoned Nash up asking for a quote and tried to get a better quote than 2 previous (i.e. cheaper with home start and break down cover ;) ) then played them off each other!

Ended up going with A Quote who got me insured with Norwich union (i think?) cost £268 TPFT with a £200 ish access and home start and break down cover and pillion carrying fun!

I thought that wasn't bad considering i started at quotes of over £450 for TPFT! and massiveee excess! :o

Good Luck

Hastings - me, Carol Nash - wife, Bennets - close runners up to both.

Then MCN and the electric internet plus the yellow pages. It'll take ages and you will be fed up repeating yourself but it's the only way to be sure you're getting the best deal. I long ago came to the conclusion that insurance companies just use some kind of random number generator...

Grounghog day??

Cam depends on your age as well, but i know i was cheaper than that last year wnen i started biking so had zero no claims, but i'm an old fart (32) Ebike and a.n.other who i went with (i'll rake out their name tonight.

Think it was about £250 with£150 excess, also I dont stay in the big smoke which may affect it, my mates with the same mob and has claimed and said their claim management was great which is the real test.

My insurance is with Express. Recommended my Cupar Motorcycles as being cheap for Suzuki's, don't know if thats true or not (they are the broker Suzuki use when they give away free insurance with the 125's).

30 year old, just passed DAS, on a new pointy with no no claims fully comp, 3 points sp30, Squire SS50, ground anchor, Motrax Vishas, garaged - £334.

Can never remember who it was underwritten by, but it was the cheapest underwriter with every broker I tried. I'll look it up and post it later along with excess details.

Quote on the Express website then call them up with the quote ref and ask if they can do any better. Once the documents come through they come from "Singer & Friedland".

OK missing detail I should have put in.

Age 33 and going well :)

Bike: SV650S K3

Fully comp insurance.

Parked on drive.

Groundhog and oxfor monster; motrax vishas, alarmed/immobilised (Meta) alphadot.

No convictions

1 year riding, 1 year no claims.

I reckon I could do a little better than offers so far.

Thanks for feedback guys. All very helpful.

Any money saved is getting spent on the bike :)

Follow up from earlier, I'm with Roadsure, policy by Equity red star includes RAC cover £247, zero experience, zero no claims, zero ability, 32, fc, garaged.

Ralph you might want to give them a shout when your renewal is due as well.

Oh I think I get a voucher for money off renewal if a recomendation goes with them so if you do give me a shout.

Thats the very folk!! Thanks KG, I'll give Roadsure a shout next time. Could be my dodgy postcode that makes the difference though, Express were a damn sight cheaper than the likes of Bennets. What quotes were you getting from them?

Got my current insurance to re-quote.

£300, £250 Excess fully comp. not garaged.

I can live with it after all that intershambles online crap and various calls with all kinds of crappy hold music.

It's a conspiracy, they all know that you are only willing to give so much time and effort to it.

I was only saving on average £60 by going TPFT.

After all that I'm of to the fridge for a beer :drink:

Cheers folks

And..... thanks all for your pointers and recommendations.
