Nowt wrong with either if those bikes. VFR's are awesome all round tools and the new CBF1000 goes like stink. Both bikes are certainly worth a look.

apparently most vfr owners rate them as a bit slow. A 1000cc VFR would be tempting :oD or a mini 1000cc Blackbird - without the massive insurance

They are also quite heavy - all that 'build quality'. Hence they are quite slow compared to a race rep.

Really ?? How many have you spoken to ?

I had my VFR for 5 years & I never found it slow - how much faster than 160 mph do you want to go ?? (on private roads obviously !!)

Rumour has it that the new VFR will be a 1000cc machine - to compete directly with the current Triumph 8)

Agreed - but as we all know, BHP figures are only good for pub 'blah' !! :P

I think that the V4 configuration is probably the best around all things considered (for a road bike at least). :D

Comparing the VFR to race rep doesn't make any sense - it isn't & never will be !! But, it's a hell of a lot more practical & comfortable for 'real world', everyday riding :D

Was not denigrating the VFR and agree with what you say. 'Slow' is a relative term and I never found my VFR 750 lacking. Your standard power ranger race rep boy will find it 'slow'.

I think its time honda gave us a new V4 race-rep machine.

Mr Honda, can the next fireblade be a V4 please?

The sound of colin edwards and arron slight's works RC45's at brands in '99 sometimes enteres my imagination. Sounded brilliant, they did.

really? a v4 is only an il4 sliced a bit differently. all otehr thign being equal the performance will likely be identical, it's just that a vfr is more mid-rangey because if bore/stroke & other tuning considerations

I would say that a v4 for the road is a pita because of the compliacted engine, cooling, exhaust, etc. it makes sense for a race bike for the lower frontal area

a road deisgned/tuned engine is, however, better for the road than a race-derived one. which is what the vrf engine is. being a v4 is rather incidental & disingenuous
