View Full Version : Nose Bleeds ......why?
I get nose bleeds about 4 times a week, nothing major, but bl**dy (scuse the pun) annoying. ...... any one clever in the house ..... why? should I be worried ? Is my head caving in slowly?
Go see a doctor woman!

What causes nosebleeds?
The most common causes are dryness (often caused by indoor heat in the winter) and nose picking. These two things work together--nose picking occurs more often when mucus in the nose is dry and crusty.
Other, less common, causes include injuries, colds, allergies or cocaine use. Children may stick small objects up the nose. Older people may have atherosclerosis ("hardening of the arteries"), infections, high blood pressure and blood clotting disorders, or they may be taking drugs like aspirin that interfere with blood clotting. The cause of nosebleeds often can't be determined.

Just for the record I have many really nasty dirty habits, but i don't pick my nose! Oh and less offensive but equally important to point out I don't snort coke! Don't like doctors, make me squirm, but if you think it not wasting their time then perhaps I will
The doctor said I wouldn't have so many nose bleeds if I kept my finger outta there........ralph wiggum
Sorry, I don't like doctors as well, the 1st sentence was kinda jokey. As for the causes I posted up, I didn't expect you to be doing every single one of them.
Here you go NHS Direct nosebleed info (http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/article.aspx?articleId=264§ionId=28348). Take a look and decide for yourself if you need to see a doctor. They cauterise recurring nosebleeds.
hummm, interesting. Maybe it is a combo of stress and being outdoors a lot (bloody pressure and drying up (nice!)) . Cheers (didn't take you too seriously  )

Could be a sign of hyper intelligence...
...or Hyper-Cerebral Electrosis

With a red-hot poker up the ole sniffer!
I get them in late spring and early summer, and they're caused (well for me anyway) by bunged up sinuses - hayfever usually. I control them by taking IB to reduce the swelling in the sinuses, together with a steroid spray such as Beconase.

I'm the same, I suffer with them in sandy conditions and heat. :-k But I get it cortorisedstraight away and it works a treat.... for about 2 months then it starts all over agian. Funniest one was on the M6 doing just over a tonne. I arrived back home and from the nose down to the top of my leathers was red!!!! No wonder I got some funny looks at the lights :P
Thanks for comments. Think Ed could have the answer for me. For months now I have had earache, and intermittent headaches (intense but then pass very quickly) and have said that I think its sinuses, so this could be from that. I am going to docs on Monday (if can get an appointment!). I think my hearing is a bit sh*t anyway so it seems it could all be connected.

You big wuss!
Its actually completely painless and quite refreshing and I prefer it to sticking chemicals up my nose.
Anyway I guess you can lead a cat to water but you cant make it...........
