Just yamaha and kawasaki running? Its a shame, i gues manufacures dont want to give away too much info through comparison of times. I think yamaha are scared, TBH.

Nah...Yamaha stayed in Sepang coz it was quieter...so they could get more done without others looking over shoulders.

Speed and lap times isn't important as some bikes may be on qualifiers and some on race rubber.

The Ilmor is a full 6 seconds a lap down on the leader.

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

With jezza on board the illmor should be about 3 seconds faster.

So three seconds off the pace then...

Its difficult, building your own bike and pitting it up against the worlds biggest manufactures. Building the chassis seems more straightforward (consider the KR team) than getting a really powerfull engine thats also usable.

Hopefully though, Illmor will get faster and faster as the year progresses.

Interesting to note: CE dipped under the Pole Position record set by rossi on the 990cc bike. The engines might be slower, but the tyres and chassis are now alot faster...

The mischief in me insists I point out that the HRC boys topping the time charts at Philip Island was only due to qualifying tyres! Considering Loris stayed on race rubber he was damned close to their pace.

Not that the above fills me with any warmth at all mind.
