it was a little under £1000 and that was just for the hardware, the cosmetics haven't been touched yet i went for only Suzuki parts though
i needed
2 Fork stanchions
1 break disc
new front break master cylinder
wheel spindle
right mirror
radiator repairs - as the mud guard pierced it,
fork seals
oil etc
but shes worth it,
I'm only 21 and sold everything i owned to get that bike and insure it

ouch, what happened?
Although it's sad to hear of the un intended front end modifications, It's good to hear you'r fixing her up again, top work. We all should look after our two wheeled buddies, even in times of bad health.
At least you are alive to tale the tale. Been there and worn the T shirt myself, one bitten, twice shy!! TAKE IT EASY!!
You hit a kerb at 70?

Yeah i was riding along last September, nice evening, just chilling out. when out of a dodgy little side road a CHAV  in a corsa decided to reenact something he'd probably seen on a Colin McCray rally game, and basically hand break turned on to a main road!! so i take the evasive around the F**king idiot and then found my self in the middle of a tight corner, tried to take her round then hit the curb dead on, when i had my first bike a Yamaha DTR 125 in the beginning of the year i wore my leathers all through summer sweating my bolax off. when i crashed my SV it was the only time i didn't wear my leather trousers lol, bit ironic really, am i fazed by it?? . . . not a chance as soon as it was fixed i was right back in there . . i love my SV its my Escape some of you may be able to relate to that

Wow, from the sounds of the crash both you and the bike must have had a pretty soft roadside to land on to actually get away with just that front damage (and big ding to the tank).
Good to hear your OK and confidence undented, back on a fixed bike.
Though it obviously can't say thanks, your bike will pay you back in many more pleasurable miles...
... as long as you don't put it through that again.

i thought a curb at 70 would have made much more damage, have you had the frame checked?

yeah the forks and the yolks took all the damage, i was on the breaks when i hit so they seized up as well but the frame is fine and the engine is sweet as a nut.
guess i was lucky,
too lucky to get away with that kind of thing again
