Had a phone call at 8.30am yesterday morning...no one phones us at that time unless its something serious..

Foxy-one of tris's parents golden retriervers was in the vets..internal bleeding from a ruptured tumour. http://www.zx-9r.net/phpBB2/images/smiles/frown.gif

None of us knew she was ill, she had showed NO signs at all of feeeling ill, even that morning! she'd had her bit of morning toast and then that was it...15mins later she was in the vets.
They operated, managed to stem the bleeding etc but she had a massive heartattack and everything just started to give up, so they let her go. http://www.zx-9r.net/phpBB2/images/smiles/cry.gif http://www.zx-9r.net/phpBB2/images/smiles/cry.gif

Neither me or tris can face going over to his parents at the mo as when you walk in, theres always been 2-3 big goldies waiting to lick you death..now theres just a year old puppy (timba) who cant understand where his playmates gone.
They took him out last night and he kept stopping and looking over his shoulder as to say "where is she?"

She was 9, so good age for a big dog, and its some comfort it was quick and she wouldnt have really known.

You and the family have my deepest sympathy. Dog or Human, it's never easy when you lose a loved one.:(

Often people seem less understanding when it's a pet rather than a person - but then one man's pet is another man's best friend I guess.

My 'Old Man' is curled up on the sofa with me now - fast asleep as usual - and I count myself lucky every day.

This is sad, it will seems strange for a while. At least from your dogs point of view he didn't know what was happening and didn't suffer for too long.

And he had had his toast ;) :(

Sorry to hear that mate...

Being a real man I can remember only three times I have cried (apart from when I was a kid):

When my mates dad died
Once cos of a woman (the only one to have had that effect on me and it was me who ended it  )
But neither as much as when I lost my dog, I was aged 14 and had her from being about 2-3yrs old :(Still miss her :(

Really sorry to hear this Paws. I lost my dog Sally after 16 years, and it broke my heart. It took me ten years to even be able to face getting another dog. There is nothing wrong with grieving for a pet, they are a huge part of your life, and in many cases they ARE your best friend.
