Hi All,

Is been a while since I posted, so hello again! Seems so long since my SV days but do miss my twin....anyway...

I am looking to buy a new lid, my XR-1000 is nearing its end, and looking a bit tired. Plus I lost a bit of weight middle/end of last year and do find it slightly too big now.

So....I am looking at either another Shoei or an Arai. I have £400ish ready and looking around. But I have few questions that I hope you good people can help with?

1. I am thinking about getting a plain colour Black, with a black visor but am conscious this is a bit boring. My leathers are black but have a bright yellow K4 GSXR??? What do you think?

I have though been seriously been considering one of these:

What do you think? Comments please. Colours or suggestions?]

(WARNING VAIN STATEMENT ALERT)
Because if I buy a lid that matches my leathers/bike etc now, and then I change/sell/crash my bike, I may want a different one? #-o

2. Am I right to be sceptical of buying a lid online? Should I trust the packaging delivery? I've seen some great deals on Arai and Shoei lids online but am REALLY hesitant? Do you all agree?

3 (but related to 2): have any of you used or know anyone that has used the following sites
http://www.bikersbargains.co.uk
http://www.bikersdirect.co.uk
If so, are they reputable? Can you recommend any sites which are good for bikers kits?
What about Ebay?????

I think my main problem is that buying a new lid is a) a lot of money to spend with a company I don't know and b) Is the difference between life and death if I come off so don't want a lid that is used or substandard????

Guys, can you help...........please!!!!

1. you'll get away with any bright helmet as a "safety aid" so with black leathers (timeless) any colour bike will be OK.
2. make sure the delivery is signed for and reject it if the package looks damaged, apart from that you shouldn't have a problem with postage, also make sure you go to a bike shop and try on the make & model you want before buying online as some are slightly different in size & shape.
3. Have delt with bikersdirect for other bits without a problem, also M&P and Busters, but I'm sure some will be more problematic than others.

Cheers Mark.

Oh and the Ebay thing, well if it was a shop and discribed as new then I can't see a problem (see 2 in the post above), however I'd never buy any secondhand helmet unless I knew first hand the history very well and then it's still a maybe.

Cheers Mark.

Just have to find a way to justify it to myself though, as my current one is fine and only about a year old!

I bought my new Shoei Raid 2 on the net from BFM Motorcyles http://www.bfmmotorcycles.co.uk. No problems at all and it arrived well packed. So long as you know your size, you should be OK.

I got my current lid from these guys:

http://www.thevisorshop.com/acatalog/

They were cheap and I got a free visor with the Schwantz rep I bought, and it was packaged well. Ask them to check the date stamped on the lid they're going to sent you though just to check how long it's been in storage.

Cheers,

Paul
