Any law gurus on here?
my sister went out to a swanky bar lastnight - checked her coat in to the supervised cloakroom. Inside it was her mobile, purse, passport.
bad turn 1 - her bag got stolen from her
bad turn 2 - it had her cloakroom ticket in
bad turn 3 - attendant refused to look for her coat - even with her passport in which could have proved it was hers
bad turn 4 - phoned up today to find coats been stolen, with of course her purse, cards, cash, passport mobile...

i know there's usually signs saying that they aren't responsible for loss/damage but does their ignorance in dealing with it lastnight mean they're responsible? Of course she had to pay for it too - which means theres that whole contract acceptance

If the bag was stolen from her and the ticket was in the bag then I doubt she'd have any claim against the bar, the thief probably found the ticket and used that to get the coat, no?

Was that as in "swanky" with the silent "s"? ;)

but having found her bag to be stolen she went to get her coat- and was refused giving the thief aaages to take it. i'd imagine after stealing a bag you just get the hell out of their anyway!

Inside it was her ....

mobile - a woman letting go of her mobile  ;)
purse - didn't plan on spending any cash
passport. - why, who in their right mind takes their passport on a night out

turn 1 - her bag got stolen from her etc etc
Ok so not so good but did she not try and get hold of the bars manager? If so and he/she said wouldn't be easy to find wasn't her mobile in the pocket, ok so it could have been switched off but you know what I mean

... coats been stolen, with of course her purse, cards, cash, passport mobile...
Guess she's spent most of the day cancelling her cards etc and not forgetting to report her passport as stolen as well
