wet battery's exhaust tube

I'm installing a new battery unto my 454ltd kwak and I just wanted to know if the exhaust tube is supposed to go anywhere or just hang to the side? I've done a few searches but I guess this must be too obvious for them to answer. The last battery didn't have an exhaust tube so I don't have anything to go by

My Aprilia had one of these. Just route it out of the bottom of the bike with other breathers, don't leave it sat near paintwork or lacquer, etc.
