anyone have any idea why my 5th power adaptor for my laptop broke (in an hour)?! its really ****ing me off. I took it to pieces and checked the connection - all looks fine - its not one of the vulnerable ones of the past.
its a tosh sat. m30 if anyone else has had these problems. (i've since been converted to the way of the mac :D )

Is it the connector that broke? I'm on my third connector over the last year... Tosh as well.

no. i undid about 40 screws and looked at it and it was fine. only some models seem to be affected by this. I have a feeling that i'm using a 3A adaptor instead of a 4A. but i doubt this could make it fail. anyone got any thoughts on that?

Sorry - not internally - the male connector that goes into the unit??

The wires always break so I just chop it off and replace it with one from Maplins (£2).

oh ok . well i bought a new adapter today, and it lasted an hour without being moved. So that part can't have broken. i know what you mean though! what a bad design. The laptop i have now has a magnetic connection - any knock and it falls out without damaging anything. brilliant!

3A instead of 4 is quite deficit, the lappy could well be cooking them by trying to draw too much current. Are these original manufacturer power supplies?

the old ones were, but going through them so quickly meant i started buying ones off ebay. I was only using the lesser 3A one, as thats what toshibas repair department shipped it with. (after 4 1/2 months of trying to find the problem!!) i think i'll get a new 4A adapter, if that doesn't work - bin time.
