I've put mesh in the sides. Just wondering what people thought of it at the front before i fixed it in.http://server2.uploadit.org/files/bikerskez-DSC00086.JPG
Very Very nice... I like the front, but do please get a front fender extender as it will stop alot of crap getting on it...
ps, where did you get the mesh from...

My intention was to use the hole thats already at the bottom holding the panels together and making two more, one either side of the fairing on the same surface as the one already there(The very front of the fairing as you look straight at the bike). Using a nut and bolt and washers on either side of the mesh to give it a bit of strength and a surface for the nut. Hope this makes sense.

hang on hang on! i took my fairing panels off still fixed together? i undone both sides and lower'd them to the ground then sort of slid them out from underneath;) the reason i kept them together was i couldnt get the black plastic rivits out that hold them together at the bottom, they are still fixed together in my loft.;)
I think it looks great!!!
I have been having a psychological battle on this matter - To FAIR OR NOT TO FAIR. I like the lowers looks good but also like the pointy belly pan and stainless covers but don’t think I got the time and energy to keep the downpipe as shiny as some I’ve seen on here. You’ve managed to hide the pipe completely.....decisions decisions......???
Looks good mate but can we have a piccy from a little further away? and kwak the little black rivety things, push the centre of the rivet in n they pop out nice n easy ;)

i love the silver pointy k3 with the silver frame thats why i'm on my second! and the fairing lowers that came with my 1000 are in the loft and the belly pan is on with the s/steel rad covers, i like to see the v twin engine and the pipework, the fairing lowers just seem to stick out like a after thought to me;) thats why were all different tho;) it would be boring if we all liked the same thing.

That looks great! I'm thinking of putting mesh on my curvey side fairings too. The one thing that bothers me is the thought of the mesh going to look manky, or rust coming through it. Did you consider that and did it affect the choice of mesh you used? How did you fix the small pieces in the side vents?
Can anyone tell me what mesh to use and where to get it to avoid rust / mankiness? Would like gold mesh on blue curvey.
Thanks.
I love it.. was thinking about doing something very similar to mine but have never had five minutes to get round to doing it!!
Go for it!
I like it too!! Pics from further away plz!

Very nice I like it, more pics from a bit further back.
If you have the Internet Explorer 7 browser (which I think a lot of us must have by now), you can change the size of the page with the zoom in / out feature just above the clock on the tool bar. If you go to 50% you can see the bike fram further away

well, we both like your wife Daz!!!
looks good mefinks.. will save u having to clean the downpipe.!!!.. I have mine done (curvy) with mesh ..just make sure u hose it down soon as u get in.. else u get nice dead dry flies in it and thats hard to get out-- unless ur Kwak..! he never lets water near his bike...
lucky pants- look up on search my thread about when i put my mesh in.. theres loads of pics.. if its still there- if not just pm me and I will send them- its a 20 minute job mate with a hot glue gun and some mesh - I used the thin mesh from Halfords that is used for filling in bodywork... I think John Admin had gold mesh in his curvy... ave a look on the main page at the brilliant story /diary of how he renovated it.. .. its a good read.
quickie of mine....

has anyone fitted mesh across the front opening on a curvey? i would love to do this to help keep things cleaner and hide parts which are not so pretty (downpipe)
i think if i was to do it, i would try to get my hands on aluminium mesh and have it hard anodised black. than i could clean it using a hand brush along with soem water and soap.
do you think, the lower fairings could be removed as one peice on a curvey?

yes the lowers on a curvy can be dropped off ans then turned on their side and still together can then be slid out from under the bike.. its fiddly and u need to put a rug down to save scratches fromthe floor.. and its easier if its on a paddock stand. or abba even better.. ..
but yes it is possible...
whether a garage servicing your bike would be as understanding I dont know. if u service it yourself i suppose its no problem..

never let any garage near my bike or any of my cars, just dont know who to trust with it apart from my self, plus i save so much money, and its a hobby :)
i think im going to give it a go, one tricky thing about a curvey tho.... the downpipe patrudes past the line of the fairings when looking from the side, so some carefull shaping of the mesh will be required

yea just bend it around a shaped object something big and bent - where's scoobs!??
Quiff Wichard

just a thought- this would make maintenance or general cleaning of the downpipe and the engine impossible without removing the whole lower fairings then

then maybe bolts to attach the mesh is the answer then
but if fine enougth mesh is fitted, it will reduce the dirt build up and not as much dirt will accumilate, anyway, whenever i give my bike a good clean, the lowers always come of anyway

I look forward to seeing the results..
need to be fixed firmly though..
if it came loose and flew off under yer back wheel at speed..??.
but its such a cheap mod its worth a look at to see if its pleasing to the eye at least.

to start with i think i will have a play at getting the fairings off in one peice, see how much hassle that will be, if no good, i will go for the bolt method, when i get round to it, i will put a thread up about it.
would be nice to hear from other curvey owners who have tried first

I dont like the mesh in the front, or on the bottom gaps in the fairing. But in the larger top vents it looks cool, reminds me of honda firestorms with the side mounted radiators!

I concur. If I were to put mesh in those other places, I would use black, I think.
