Lunar eclipse starts shortly.Nice clear sky here so there should be a good view of it.
thick cloud and heavy rain here so no chance of seeing the brown moon. maybe someone can take a photo so i dont feel im missing out on everything this weekend
Raining here too, so won't see a thing.
Clear here, and cracking view.
How does a lunar eclipse work?
In a normal eclipse the moon hides the sun, so what hides the moon??? :shaking:
The earth eclipses the moon from the sun if I remember right.
It's the shadow of the earth moving across the moon.
B*gger, Grinch beat me to it!
who knows but it said the moon would go brown
maybe a bit lump of space poo
I see. Is this as frequent as an eclipse of the sun?
I think I can see it now!!!

I managed these with my elite camera/telescope combo- they're not ideal, since I don't have an adaptor, I was just pointing the camera at the viewfinder

I kept running to the window to get a look at this. Wish i had a tripod cos i was dying to get some shots while i had a nice clear sky.
But i think i'll just nick Sudoxe's and pretend they were ones i took, cos they would have looked just like that from here. :D
I went out and tried to have a quiet contemplative moment. Just me, a :smt033 and the moon. Then the bloody security light came on! Almost blinded me and made me drop said :smt033
So i went back indoors and watched thru thr windows again.
Pretty impressive spectacle i must say.

doesnt happen that often every 2 years i think, not like the solar eclipse, the funny thing is i was lying next to my mrs in bed .... ive got a Very decent 10" mirror telescope in my garage . . . . i decided is was more within my intrest to stay in the bed. . . its cold outside when your naked lol \\:D/
it looked good though it would of gone really red in the lower part of the country, kinda goes like mars.

Here's my effort, taken just after the period of totality started. I kind of wish I'd been a bit more organised now and taken shots every 5 minutes to put together a timelapse movie. Still there is always next time?!
The stars don't stand out so much now Photobucjet has reduced the resolution.
