Computer game, sniper type of thing

I dont have any computer games and played with my PS2 about twice, but I fancy just one good game when I am stuck on the PC. Can anyone recommend a game that will run on PC maybe free :lol: that involves snipers, find that more interesting than shoot-em-up stuff. Havent tried a PC game and wonder if I would get on with them. My brain gets so fried at work I cant be bothered to read books etc :lol:

Operation Flashpoint is a very good game in terms of tactics, realism and not just Doom-style continual shooting. Old now too, so is certainly <£10 for the GOTY edition and runs ok on slower machines. It has a Dragunov or an M21 as sniper rifles and you can properly take your time and use whatever tactics you like in the missions.

Dont normally play games on the PC, but Brothers In Arms had me playing every spare minute of the day.

Another vote for operation flashpoint here. Superb game and as mention runs well on older machines. I liked the level/mission editing facility too.

I'd also point out that Silent Scope in the arcades is superb and probably my favourite sniping game.

Yeah, I got Operation Flashpoint and all the expansion packs.

Fly around in choppers, drive tanks, sneak around with silenced SMG's. Try to take out the rest of your own squad without them killing you.

Did hear that Operation Flashpoint 2 was being developed ages ago, dunno if it actually came out or not.

Op Flashpoint 2 is just out, but cos of bohemia interactive getting cut off from Codemasters (who owned the name), it is called ArmA Armed Assault. I have played a demo, it is basically very similar, but with much better graphics.

I used to play America's Army too! Got up to 31 IIRC. It's not really a sniping game, I actually found it bloody hard, but rewarding when you got a few kills.

Yeah Silent Scope on the PS2. Play the Sniper. Act the Sniper. BE the Sniper. Yes my friend, you can shoot as many people as you want with no need to go to prison! You should be able to pick it up for about a tenner at a second hand shop. Got to be better than any PC game especially if you have a big telly.

Another vote for Operation Flashpoint!

Have Farcry as well and its cool but Flashpoint has an easy to use mission editor, so it has limitless gameplay and its the only PC First Person Shooter i still play.
