View Full Version : people with road attacks i need your help?????
Just had mine fitted, the front however is causing me some concern, on the side wall there is an arrow that says"drive" that is pointing in the same direction as the arrow on the wheel as it should be. But on the side of the tread there are more arrows pointing the opposite way:-? is this normal?
Also the tread pattern is opposite to the rear???
Please help put my mind at rest cheers. ben;)
The arrows on my tires are both pointing in the same direction of the revolution of the tyre for forward travel.
really odd,the rear one the side wall arrows and the arrows on the tread are pointing the same way,but the front is opposite?
not sure whats going on,dont surpose you got a phote of your front wheel??:)
Right this is the little arrow on my front wheel that I'm on about...

This should be pointed in the direction of travel for your wheel.
but on my side wall ive got an arrow that says "drive" and its opposite to the aroow in your pic???? im confused the tire guy who fitted it said you go by the aroow that says drive???
I can't find that on mine...
as you look at the tread patterns theres like an v shape is that pointing forward on both wheels? on mine it is on the rear but pointing backward on the front??
cheers for helping bud
Right had a real good look, on the front is the following...
>-DRIVE-> which is pointing in the oposite direction to all the other tyres arrows and on the wrong way to be the correct direction of travel for the tyre.
The rear has...
>--REAR-> which points the same as 'drive'.
So I would say that DRIVE means the driving tyre, or front as we know it. But it looks like your tyre is indeed on the wrong way round.
ill take some photos bear with me

its fitted with thr arow that says drive poitint the same way as the one on the wheel?
Same as mine... and mines on the other way round, same as my rear. All I can say is that as far as I know DRIVE, just means front.
Else all your treat pattern is the wrong way round!
From the Conti site -
Directional Arrows
Where a tyre has a direction of rotation arrow moulded upon it, the tyre must be fitted so that the relevant front or rear tyre follows the direction of rotation when the motorcycle is being ridden forward. Road handling and tyre wear may worsen, or damage to the tyre can occur in extreme circumstances if these instructions are not followed.
so acording to that then its on wrong:mad:
cheers for the help, mate got to take the bl***y thing off again then:mad:
dont surpose you got a photo of the tread lookin down on the front wheel?
this appears to be a manufacturing error. see the bit on the left of this page:

On mine the tread points forwards. I think your front one is on backwards.

Looked at my front wheel and both arrows point in the same direction. Tread looks like the same on both wheels.:smt102

mine too:scratch:
I have checked mine this afternoon and mine are fine. the arrow on the side wall and the arrow molded on the tread face the same way , and go in the right direction!
bought mine at the back end of last summer,so depending on when you got yours they are more than likley from a f**ked up batch with contrasting arrows!!
See the Continental Tyres website, I read about this Conti have decided to reverse the tread pattern after some trials, and some of the moulds in some factories have conflicting arrows. The arrow on the sidewall is the important one. See nvoh's post for the weblink
ive had it swaped over now,but lookin at there site it was right the first time,oh well they feel fine,so im just going to leave them now,Thanks for the help
Are they any good, these road attacks?
Are they any good, these road attacks?
I like them, better than stock.
good grip for a sports touring tyre, prob traded off against mileage though.

I thought they had more grip than the 020's they replaced but like Law says probably a trade off with milage though
