I like the pic of the guy in the gravel trap, its a good impression with the gravel flying everywhere

Very good work there, well done. I see your panning tecnique has improved a lot. This is hard to get right. My rule of thumb is to use a shutter speed number that is at most half the 'effective' focal length of the lens used. i.e 125th max with a 250mm effective focal length. Again I thing you've done very well.

IMHO the four riders in line is the most powerful with the third rider in the series pin sharp, it adds depth.

Nice one.

I Love Love Love that one of all four in line its goin on my desktop.. I like it blurred gives the feel of speed..but out of interest can it not be unblurred with magic modern stuff !...

Tried getting it sharpened using PS but it was just too out of focus for my expertise with PS:(

She's wearing a vest becasue she is a "newbie" to the series...all the rookies were wearing orange vests:D Not because she's a lady...that would just be sexist:-s

No 46 most certainly wasn't hanging about from 4 races over the weekend he finished 14th,9th,7th and 5th pretty good results i'd say. Probabily took a lot of guts to turn up in that outfit and race. The guys had a bit of fun poked at him on other forums too but by the end of the season i'd be suprised if he hasn't had a podium finish.

Well he ain’t that quick ;)

As promised some vid of him in action ...

Our Mr Rossi is the dot just going round Graham Hill (I am in Druids) at the start of this vid. ;)

If I hadn’t of got zapped by the black bike down the short straight, I reckon I might have had Mr Rossi that lap rather than the next!! :D

I came across Vale a few times in the day … each time he’d park it mid corner after blasting the straight … (it was quick on a straight … you can see I get the run on him, then he gets the power down and he is gone!!

However, if that were the real Mr Rossi, he would never have been Powned that easily by a Muppet on an SV650 that must have been 60-70? horse down on him!! :D Nice .... '1up' for SVs!!! 8)

Mr Rossi in action (http://www.sharebigfile.com/file/114317/Rossi-wmv.html)

p.s. I can't believe he got a 5th ... Rookie6 must be well weak this year  when I was in Rookie6, if I rode like that I'd have got my @ss handed to me bigtime!! ... Which I did BTW, but not coz I rode like that!! :D

This picture is not actually that out of focus because third guy back is kinda in focus just a bit of motion blur but the corner boards are in, to get all the guys you would of needed a higher F stop depending on the lens you were using, im guessing its either a canon 70 -300 or a sigma 70 -300 ( quote me if im wrong ) which have an f stop @ full zoom of about 5.6, to get all the guys in it would had to of been at least F11, problem is @ that F stop it would of dropped your shutter speed, and as we know taking photos of bikes needs fast speeds.
not really sure what your ability with a camera is but just thought id point it out, well done for the copywrite though not enough people do this and get screwed when they sell images, try a polarising filter to take the reflections out too.

Acording to the data impregnated in the image, its a Cannon EOS 400D

Apature F/5.6
Sutter Speed 1/250s
Focal length 300mm

Oh and he used Photoshop Elements 5.0 to edit it ;)

Thats correct...it was right at the end of my focal length as well...so its a tad soft. The lens is a Tamron 70-300mm zoom...not bad little lens. I'm looking at investing in some nicer glass a bit later in the year when I can afford it;)

I knew it was something like that, 250th of a second is too slow though to be honest, on stationary objects that is the boarder line of a hand held sharp picture and a hand held blurred picture, anything over that ( say 500th of a second ) will be a sharp image, now with motorbike photgraphy you absolutly need a wide F rating on your lens so you can still get desired results, but as you so rightly said you cant always afford one, i got a credit agreemant on mine, when i was @ donnington for the GP 06 i was stuck using my sigma 70 300 lens but the stuff i got was good enough to sell to the magazines so. . .

But . . .

Saying that you are using a Digi SLR that A, is ten million pixels B, top end shoots @ 4000th of a second,
so what i advise to get the most from this ace camera you own is to not zoom so far, shoot in RAW and crop in to the bikes if you want to get some ace results with the gear you have, DO NOT go full bore with the shutter speed though, because you will get stationary bikes with the wheels not moving i recommend if you can to try shooting @ 800th - 1000th of a second, and keep those wheels moving, also you will need a polarizer filter to remove glare, it will drop your shutter speed a tiny bit but will give you a better image, if you can afford one get a single focal lenght lens, sigma do a 300mm which is ace and it is a constant F2. im not trying to teach but this will help to get the results that sell, hope it helps, i'll post some of my work when i get home :thumleft:

i'm using the same camera and thinking of getting a new lens. Is that sigma a fixed 300mm?! an f stop of 2 would be ace, it seems the f1.8 lenses aren't too expensive, drop to 1.4 and its murder!

no, at err, mallory. it's a bit longer - altho not much. iirc I was doing 1:08ish & tricky was doing 1:21ish. minitwin pace - with the gerrards chicane added - is ~1:02. that's what I meant about her having guts .. the guts to go out racing knowing that you're going to get lapped on about your third lap :-(

Yeah fixed focal, with F2 your getting much sharper images and higher shutter speeds, it gathers more light in the lens so the image develops quicker, you pay for what you get, now for a ride home woo hoo!!! makes my day :thumleft:
