View Full Version : Hello
Hi All :p
A born again biker - 42yr old :smt103 and decided to get back into bikes - got my eye on a SV650 so decided what better place to join. Hopefully be on the road soon honing my skills (or lack thereof).
Any tips / advice about SVs more than welcome
Graham
howdy dude
smashing choice etc etc
ride carefully, chances are if its been a few years the rascals may have got considerably quicker and reflexes and reactions slower.
but most of all, enjoy.
:smt006 hello
my only advice is get one you wont regret it
you do know that yellow curvys are faster dont you?
Good advice and I'm sure your right - thanks

OK newby question - Curvys? I guess that is the earlier version then - why faster carbs???
Graham
Welcome to the house that is mad.
Only advice I can give you is to ignore Hovi5. ;)
Yes, curvy's are the older model (called curvy because of the bodywork shape), and are carbed, pointies ('03-'06) have Fuel injection.
Not so long back a couple of folks that actually race SVs found that a stock pointy has a bhp advantage over a stock curvy. I'll dig that thread up & slap Hovi5 with it if he carries on :D
Oh, and you know blue makes more sense than anything else ;)

Curvys are '99 -'02
Pointys are '03- present
Curvys are carbed, pointys are fuel injection.
Blue pointys are fastest. :P

Hello Doc.
We're calling you Doc whether you like it or not by the way! Welcome.
there is a graph posted on here b4 clearly showing that yellow curvys are far superior (i will try to find it)....... alpinestarshero has seen it & he agrees & he is a proffersor type person
Hello Doc.
We're calling you Doc whether you like it or not by the way! Welcome.
He doesn't know it yet, but he'll probably end up being the official forum doctor by the end of the day. Regardless of his field.
Howdy and welcome aboard:D
the graph was lost in the change over of sites although i think its been deleted as YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH ...so you will have to do with this
A follow up study conducted by a bunch of NASA physicists also confirm that SV's in yellow are faster.
Therefore, those who ride yellow SV's are faster than anyone
Welcome, ideal choice of bike. Ignore all the noise on which is fastest here, they only say that cos they've never been truely fortunate enough to ride a Red K5 pointy, they're leagues ahead.
Hello! Welcome!

I thought Dr. Rich was the official Doc???
Avast & ahoy there me hearty!!:D Can we call you Doc? Huh? Music, philosophy or medicine? or none of those? :smt020
It could be divinity - Doctor Graham could be the Bishop of N. York. That would be a first on here.
Hello! Welcome!
I thought Dr. Rich was the official Doc???
Never hurts to get a second opinion on these things...
Wow ! I was only away for a bit and came back to all this - you guys sure are active ...
er Dr OK think medicine and vaccines in particular, plague and anthrax more particularly ;-)
Colour - was thinking Blue but now confused as to whether Red / Black/ Blue / yellow is best/fastest - whats wrong with bronze? (he he)
Thanks for the welcomes - spending all my money on kit at present (now got to think what colour - nah I'll stick with Blue I think - here come the flames...)
Graham Doc or otherwise (most people call me "oi you!" )
blue looks the best
just my biased opinion, but i think even the "others" would agree..
i see you didnt mention silver as an option, or should i say unsprayed...:p
oh and whats wrong with bronze...? well you dont really need me to tell you that!!
Yep, we are an active forum full of bored people.
Can we call you Dr. Anthrax now?
Oh, what kit are you getting? I'm nosey like that!
silver - is that actually a clour (consults his "how to win friend (not) manual")
Bronze ... Surely then Yellow is best as its closest to Gold??? Now I see why its fastest - Duh silly me
Blimey - you lot are just to quick for me !
Kit XR1000 helmet cheaper the better as long as its brand new - bring on last years model I say.
Gloves - probably alpinestars as they get a good write up for them
Boots sidi corsas or the style martins (eeny meany miney mo)
Rev'it devil textile jacket (in blue of course)
Rev't factors - boring black :-(
Knox back protector or the forcefield
Serious question guys
Stylemartin GP or the Sidi vertigo corsa's ??? opinions please
Dr G,
Doc Anthrax,
or plain old "oi you"
Thanks for the welcomes - spending all my money on kit at present (now got to think what colour - nah I'll stick with Blue I think - here come the flames...)
* gets out the fire extinguisher for the good doctor *
Male yellow riders are faster than anyone.
There you go then - ladies be warned. :p
Dr Anthrax eh? Well, I'll admit some of their songs really could do with CPR.;)
Hello BTW.
Sidi's - I've never had a more comfortable boot - mainly because they make them in half sizes.
(And black curvies may not be the fastest, but they definately are the classiest... after blue FireBlades that is. ;))
up in Gods own country (more flames no doubt!)
Just near the very start of the Stokesley to Helmsley run - "Newby" is a little quiet village nestling under the North York moors and it has no clue as to what is about to happen (thinks noisey bike starting up of a morning and shattering the peice - oops nevermind)
