Well it's official, iv'e just received this email

END OF AN ERA

We are sad to inform you that after over 35 years in the motorcycle trade, Peter and Barbara Slinger are due to retire at the end of March. They would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for choosing to use Slinger Motorcycles. Peter said "It has been hard at times, but I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the motorcycle industry. I have had the opportunity to meet lots of interesting characters and I can't think of any other job that I would have enjoyed as much as this one" Peter and Barbara would especially like to thank all of you who have become friends as well as customers. You know who you are.
Although Peter and Barbara are taking a well deserved retirement, the shop will remain, but under new ownership. However, all the familiar faces will still be there, along with one or two new ones, to cater for your motorcycling needs. The new owners have ambitious plans to improve the building, giving you a greater choice of machines, clothing and accessories.

As a result of his impending retirement, we have a number of motorcycles for sale at greatly reduced prices - please note that the following prices are applicable when there is NO trade-in. Cash or finance only. NO part-exchange.

Been to see Nik this morning and yes it is KJM that have bought it!!

Nik will be staying on for a little bit (maybe about a month or so) but then she will be going too.

It's their last day week on Saturday, she did say to pop in but I think there were enough tears about this morning!!

Is the shop closing down during the handover? I need to get the bike serviced soon, and they're the only Suzuki specialists anywhere near us!!!

SV1000K4, RED, 05 PLATE, 4700 MILES, NO PX £3000

I wouldn't mind that, can't see a piccie on the web-site though

Is it standard Jo, or has it had any nice bits on it (cans, undertray/rear fender removed etc?)

Carl, Peter and Barbara finish a week on Saturday. The machanics are staying on. KJM already have stock in the shop now so the answer to your question is no the shop will not be shut. Peter has given notice to quit the Suzuki dealership and KJM will have to apply for this themselves as this is the way that things have to be done. So will KJM get the Suzuki dealership :smt102

Cloggsy, front memory it is totally standard, give Nicola a ring on 01772 727213 and tell her I sent you :D and she will let you know if they still have it obviously what stock they have got left is moving pretty quick so you might even get it a bit cheaper if they are wanting to get shut quick. There is a small dink in the tank due to a muppet customer

That is a shame... I didn't want to have to start shelling out on all the goodies... I think I'll keep my cards in my pocket for the time being then...

Salvation? Just spotted on MCN's website:

New Suzuki dealer destined for Preston

29 June 2007 17:40
Preston is due to get a new Suzuki dealership as Wyder Motorcycles (http://www.wyderhonda.co.uk/) revamps and expands it’s business.
The new showroom will be located next to the existing Wyder Honda (http://www.wyderhonda.co.uk/) dealership in Preston, which itself has gone through changes since the arrival of John Wilkinson as Operations Director. Wilkinson joined the firm after nine years with Honda UK, and the shop currently has offers on pre reg demonstrator bikes and new stock.
The Wyder Group (http://www.wyderhonda.co.uk/) also opened the first Ducati dealership in the UK, Ducati Manchester, which has also had a change of staff, with Chris Booth moving from the Honda dealership to focus on customer service, and introduce a new customer care campaign.
With the new Wyder Suzuki (http://www.wyderhonda.co.uk/) dealership due to launch with an imminent open day, there are currently vacancies in Sales, Parts and Service and Clothing.
For more information on the current vacancies, contact Lindsay on 07742-644012.

smgee
02-07-07, 06:57 PM
...and to open a store in the middle of Preston, then shut it down and move it to Strand Road, then shut that down!

GSXR Carlos
03-07-07, 11:11 AM
And now open two bike shops that people can't (and won't) ride out to

Did you know that even Chris Booth has moved to the Ducati shop in Manc, he used to run the strand, then fylde, then preston

He's a good guy, but the place just can't retain staff, there's no one there to have a laugh with, and no cafe either
