Depends if you have a mix of USB 1 and USB 2 ports, try putting the modem in a different slotif not it might just be your provider.
Try clearing you temp internet files, mine was running slow and I found a gigs worth of them on mine the other day. cleared them up and much faster now

one time i was working on my aunts computer and it so happened that in the middle of working on it a network card died totally randomly and it brought the computer to its knees it was so slow and it took me forever to figure out that the network card fried so some times it is not always what you think is causing the problem

Could be the USB ports as others have said, try swapping em round. Could also be spyware on your machine slowing it down.

Have a google for a product called "Adware" and download that, its free and should clean up any nastyness thats lurking about. As always make sure your anti-virus is up to date. Also see if theres any new drivers for your ADSL modem and try updating it to use those if there is.

Hey Quiff, I replied to your post in the megathread.

Possibly, you get USB1.1 and USB2.0 the latter runs at 480mbps which is pretty quick. 1.1 can transfer at two speeds.

Low speed is up to 1.5Mbit/s
Full speed is up to 12Mbit/s

Some of the fastest broadband for home wont use up all that 12Mbit/s but its possible the port has gone to low speed mode. You could check in the BIOS and make sure full speed is enabled, past that try plugging it into different ports.
