That is bad news.

I remember looking round a sub at an Open Day at Devonport when I was living in Plymouth. I think you have to be a special kind of person to be able to serve on one of them.

Is it true Stingo that your not allowed to drive for a few days after being off a sub due to having no spacial awareness?

RIP to the guy's doing their part. :(

When I hear "submarine incident" on the news, I imiediatly think back to the Kursk, the russian sub where all those submariners died because they couldnt free them.

Its a dangerous occupation, I dont envy those lads one bit, but I am deeply thankfull for their service to our country and our protection.

Matt

P.S. Ive never been on a sub before, whats it like? Can you go look around one at places like Portsmouth and stuff?

You are 'advised' that you shouldn't drive for 24hours however there's no hard & fast legislation about this. It's left up to the individual. The reason for this 'advice' is that your eyes have only been focussing on short distance type stuff for X amount of days and so would need a period of readjustment.:smt104

I hear through the grapevine (caution should be applied when using this particular device) that the main cause of death in this case was smoke inhalation.

Its not nice when you hear of these things, I,m ex Air Force and was ground support for the Nimrods. When you hear of an accident or crash you just know that the camp or unit will be hurting cos you,ve lost some of you,re own.And by the nature of many service guys you just know that you,ve lost some of the best and brightest we,ve got. Not good. You are a master of understatement Stingo.

I will now prostrate myself before all the men and women serving in our Armed Forces. Thank you.
