Just been out after doing some work on the bike, up and over the Rhigos.. no sheep this time.. lol and up onto the Bwlch.. and pottered off down towards Abergwynfi.. thought it was a tad cold going over the top. to look down the valley and still see bits of snow on the sides of the valleys.... to make matters worse, I was in my green suit without my warm stuff underneath.. so got to Abergwynfi, turned round and pottered off back towards warmer climates! glad I havent taken off my heated grips yet! :smt036

Plenty of bikers out today as well!

I shall not be attending next weekend, as one I have been asked to show some roads around south wales to some other members, and I also still havent had some parts to overhaul my brakes, so would rather not go out on a long treck with iffy brakes...

Im off out for another spin.. this time I'll wear my warm stuffs under my leathers so as not to freeze this time!

1000 sheep road.. look out!

I've been out for a bit of a blat locally, not too far but still had a hoot. I still have about 1 to 1.5 mm chicken strips that need to be rememdied.

VB, I havn't got a clue where you went, I can't even think about how you pronounce those names. Never mind, I know where some of the good roads are from last year. Enjoy your local run next week, take it easy if your brakes are iffy.

Dont think Ive taken you lot on some of those roads... gone past them, but not on them... first time I went down one way, it was like stepping back 50 years... old cottages and houses, smoke billowing out of the chimneys... can imagine how much of a secluded place it could have been a few years ago... its one of the valleys tucked right away between the Rhondda and Port Talbot... sadly, again its one of those roads that would be a cracking biking road if the road surface wasnt full of pot holes....

I'll look at the map sometime and go and have a blat around the places you mention, I'll try and keep a good watch on the pertol stops as well. :)

The best route Ive been on, is probably the one me and Rich went on the other week... start off at Abergavenny, and go towards Talgarth, up towards Builth on the A470 and up to Rhayader... once you get into Rhayader itself, turn left at the town square... ahnd head down the Elan Valley, possibly not the best roads to take a sports bike down, but perfect roads for Rich to bimble on... some absolutley stunning views of the resevoirs.... if you follow the road all the way pst the last resevoir, you eventualy come to a sign post where you can take the mountain road to Aberystwyth... or head back towards Rhayader, and you drop back down at where you started.... you could then if you had plenty of time, head down to Builth, and take the road towards Llandovery from there.... a good days riding all in then...

I think we did part of that with you last Summer, but I'm making notes for future reference. Roll on Summer :D

We only ever went as far as Talgarth on that.... the better roads are further up..

though Im quite content with sticking to the A470 north of Merthyr, as its fast enough to get yourself into trouble with plod, with a good few twisty bits to keep you occupied... and some severe S bends to negotiate thrown in as well...

Yesterday, I went to Cardiff... where the city center was cordoned off... bugger.. as I have to go through it to get to HG in cardiff... take slight detour... end up getting mildly lost, and then coming out of a side street next to HG :D bought myself a set of vacuum gauges so I can do my throttle body balancing myself... andthen buggered off up the A48 towards Swansea way.. and had a little play with a Merc.. until he decided to start overtaking into oncoming traffic to the point they were swerving to avoid a crash.... so let him do his own thing... visited my mate, who hasnt been on his bike for a while, as hes writing up his Phd thesis... and then took the old Glyn Neath bank road home... got home, and assembled my vacuum gauges...

Had a day trail riding on a Gasgas Pampera 250. I borrowed it from a mate to marshall the course for the Wyegate Long Distance Trial.

93 miles and 31 trials sections. Only came off once:D. Some really difficult terrain out by Usk and Raglan. A great day was had by all.

Bit saddlesore now though:crutches:

We're going to do this road over easter - it's a regular ride for us, A44 from Worcester, then off round Elan - back to Crossgates for lunch. I'll post when we're going and see if any of you are free to join up.
Decision time - which bike will be best

Yup, I'll be up for that, Im sure a few others may tag along as well...

gotta make sure I dont destroy my bike first.... had a nasty accident while balancing my throttle bodies last night and an extension fuel pipe.... I can now tell you that unleaded petrol stings your eyes like fook... and the taste dont go away for ageeees... never knew you could get unleaded flavour Pizza... or pop... :smt104 but they needed doing... pitty the damned fuel pipe burst while my face was a few inches from it...

glad I dont smoke ;)
