I saw this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1996-HONDA-CBR-900-FIREBLADE-CAT-C-SALVAGE_W0QQitemZ300096056975QQcategoryZ9806QQssPa geNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) on eBay and it states a 'Cat C' :?: :?: :?:

That's what I thought too.
More like a CAT B there's no way you would get an MOT on that!!!

when the assessor looked at my sv he said possible frame damage? his actual words was " i'll put that because you never know do you? " he didn't really look at the bike properly?

I know that in insurance terms, a damaged frame is an automatic financial write off due to cost of stripping down the bike to the frame, replacing it and then rebuilding.

CAT C is written off
its been written off to cat C Status.. un echonomical for repair
CAt B is substantial damage cant go back on the road but may be stripped for spares
CAT A headstock has to be removed and sent to insurance company bike crushed...
Not necessarily.
A bike with frame damage could be a Cat C. Cat C is "significant" frame/structural damage.
Cat B is "severe" frame/structural damage. And Cat A is, well, severely "severe" frame/structural damage :(

if you had a motorcycle and you had an accident (comp insurance) any mark on the bike inc frame or not you would want putting right, its not the dink in the frame thats the problem like big ape said its the cost of the frame and the labour replacing it which makes it an instant write off. that blade cloggsy found on ebay would pass an mot as long as it was straight.
Regardless of Insurance companies writing off bikes, Motoliners repair frames I think that means straighten don't know about dings
