See kwak about that downpipe

The more I am subjected to viewing the pointy model, the more it is actually growing on me.
This disturbs me because when I first saw the pointy SV I thought to myself, thank god they did the curvy first otherwise I would never have got an SV.
I still don't like it enough to want one, but it definitely is looking better than it did.

Good luck with the test, matey. I've got my car test very soon and I'm more worried about that than I was the bike test.

BigApe - same here, but thats kwak's fault cos his pointies are so nice, even his crashed-and-repaired one, i'd have that if i didnt love me curvy so much!
Good luck with the test BTW. Are you doing it on the SV? That would make the U-turns hard!

No, doing the test on the training school's CB500.. I had an Aprilia RS125 before the SV and the turning circle on that was ridiculous, needed a 5 lane motorway and then it was a struggle!
BTW had my first go on a big bike today, my first lesson on a 500, was sooooooooo much better to ride than the 125..

I have ridden Mito/RS125 and found the turning circle pretty friendly on both.....everyones different i guess.

Whens your test BTW. I will have to cruise on over after you have passed and disrupt your first ride ;)

Between Henley and Marlow(closer to Marlow though). Its only about 10-15 mins to Maidenhead.
Where are you testing, Reading..Oxford?

Got my test in Reading, is that where you did yours? Any tips??

Yeh i did mine in Reading. I didnt have one of the usual examiners though i had a guy in on rotation from Aldershot. There is meant to be a real stickler who you DONT want at Reading...a black guy(name i cant remember) who does HGV testing aswell.
Reading is supposedly more difficult as a test route, as opposed to Oxford etc, but i found it easy enough. Just make sure you practice the roundabouts near Madjeski/M4, if your not car driver, so you nail all the lane changes and become gernerally familiar! If you dont get taken on 'black boy' roundabout ill eat my lid! After that a quickblast down the dual carriageway by the side.
If i remember there are only 3 places that they take you to do the U-turn. All of them are pretty decent, but the isolated one, with i think a red road surface, is the one you want as it is MASSIVE! I of course go the smallest, width wise, in the urban area. If you get that one make sure you dont pull over near a kerb with a brick/plank wood as it narrows your u-turn arc. Forward obsrvation and planning i guess!
Also pretty good chance that you will be taken through the 20MPH near the school...just watch the speedo.
If you go right from the test centre at the beginning of the test make sure you do not indicate too early at the lights as there are 2 roads just before it either side.
Lots of speed-bumps around the urban area aswell so if you are going around them make sure yo do appropriate lifesavers if you change lane position etc.
Other than that just relax and enjoy it, time flies by on the test. Remember the examiner is not looking for the perfect ride. Do your best and you should be fine.
If you have a good training school/instructor then they will drill you well and get you up to and beyond test standard.
Which training schol are you using? One that is based in/around Reading would be best as you can ride the routes.
Ive said too much im boreing myself!

Cheers matey, nice of you write all that :-D
My training school is in Maidenhead, well, Taplow to be precise and they have told me about the Blackboy roundabout, I used to live in Lower Earley so I know it quite well. They recommend not doing the test routes before hand as I will be concentrating more on unfamiliar roads which makes sense I suppose.
They will take me to the Blackboy roundabout on the lesson before the test so I can get used to the lanes, the problem will be the other people trying to cut in front I reckon. Nobody seems to be in the right lane!
I'm confident in my riding so it's just down to the nerves I reckon. Hopefully after a couple of miles I'll be fine. :D

I find that a bit strange but i would hope they know what they are talkng about. My instructor took me all around the different test routes. I suppose familiarity could breed contempt, but if you are anything like me, you will be 100% focused during the test!
I guarantee on any of the larger roundabouts there will be people switching lanes, just expect it if that makes any sense. A guy from my training school testing on the same day was actually cut up and had to dodge into a different lane on test. He just had to go around again!
One word of advice....whilst your waiting for the examiner dodge into the HGV waiting area and steal as many biscuits as you can.
I too find this strange. During my instructor training it was always drummed into us to make sure the students had ridden all the test routes used for a particular area. Makes perfect sense giving them the best possible chance of passing and not getting flustered at riding in unfamiliar territory.
