I can barely afford the night out, a divorce is out of the question!
No no, I'll sweet talk her. Might start by not forgetting our anniversary next week...

See you at the AR but I think I'll be spending a week or so in the Lakes so I'll miss the bit up here. Which makes no sense :)

Enjoy the lakes and make sure you get either Amarko or Ritchie to do you some "interesting" routes

Might start by not forgetting our anniversary next week...
So I'm in the office Monday, blah blah, chit chat chit chat and I mention it was our anniversary on Sunday, 9 years, pottery/willow, new lavvy or a cricket bat etc and one of the guys says "ours is on the 16th." Um, Sunday was the 16th mate...
Anyway, since *I* didn't forget, I'll be joining your 'liitle rideout' Mac! Or at least a portion thereof, the Bannockburn/Stirling to Ullapool section if that's cool. Excited already. :)

Good man Tiger You can phone the Y.H and the bookings we have made are in the name of McKinnon Membership No.050t2179 if you want to add yourself on for Glen Nevis and Ullapool. We are staying at the Travelodge in Bannockburn which will probably mean a full breakfast at Tesco's in Stirling, presuming you will be going home on the Sunday night----------------

Yup, as alluring as the Travelodge sounds it's only about 40 minutes from my own bed so I'll see you in Tescos for the full monty.
And I'll sort myself out at the YH, preferably an Emperor Suite but I can rough it in a Presidential Room if you've taken the penthouse...

As a general enquiry for the proposed route, can anybody tell me if we will have problems getting fuel in the Northern Hemisphere. We will be at touring pace so I am hoping that 120miles to the tank is no problem but we will need fuel nearly every day during the days ride as most sections are 160 miles
lots of petrol stations shut on sundays up north, well they used to be
HAGGIS !!!!!!!!!!!
You rang? ;)
Oh now, petrol stations on a Sunday... in July. Hmm, thinking back a couple of years to the return trip from BSB's - this is not my best subject! Did you know that pushing an empty SV uphill for 3/4 of a mile in full leathers and rucksack plus tent is completely knackering???? :(
OK, hope you all get round alright. If you fill somewhere in the central belt (stirling would be as good as any) it's about 100miles max to Ft. Wm.
There's always the Green Welly Shop in Tyndrum if you need it.
In Ft William, garage on the left as you leave to head north.
Invergarry - there's one on the left here too, but not open late on Sundays AFAIK (if at all?).
Next bit depends on your route to from (A82) Spean Bridge to Ullapool:
A) Heading West on the A87 for Skye, and North via A890 thru Achnasheen & Garve.
Petrol stations in Invergarry (careful, it's beyond the A87 junction so you'll have to double back a hundred yards or so!), then it's Sheil Bridge and lastly Inverinate (about 90 miles from Ullapool). This is where i had to push the bike to! All are open daily, but not particularly late at night - 6 or 7pm. Next one, you're on the A890, so it's Lochcarron (not open Sundays).
NB: The Achnasheen petrol station has been closed for some time. The next closest is Contin.
or B) A82 to Inverness area and head NW to Garve on A835.
A simpler route, but not quite so visually stunning. Both are great roads tho.
On this route the next after Ft Wm and Invergarry would be Fort Augustus, no problems there. Filling station in centre of village, again on the left is open Sundays. Drumnadrochit is the next one, again no probs.
Plenty fill up's to choose from in Inverness, you're only about 60miles from Ullapool.
Further north than this, Setanta is probably a better bet than me.
hth.
I'm heading back from Knockhill on the Sunday or Monday
so could meet up for a section of the route perhaps.:o

 You know what I'm gonna say don't you!
Had a call from my best mate, who I now see once a year if I'm lucky 'cos he lives in Mexico. He's chosen the AR07 weekend to come and visit :D .
Means I'm not coming to AR07 :( I've even agreed to pick up a golf club and embarrass myself on Saturday :smt073'cos he's a mad keen golfer and can't manage a trip to Scotland without getting a game in. Bloody well hope he appreciates it!!
But hey you can't have it all ways. This guy's been my best mate for half my lifetime.
Have fun and take plenty of photo's!

Gotta hand it to these boys. Riding from Essex to John O'Groats and not one post, not one, along the lines of "where are we meeting/what time/etc".
Well unless I hear different I'll be having the full monty in Tescos in Stirling on Monday morning, wearing a pink carnation and a silver SV outside. See you there Mac...
