Hi all, I bought my '99 sv650 last year and it was leaking a bit of oil from the clutch cover. So, I took off the clutch cover, it had been sealed with the standard o-ring and some black permatex. So, I threw away the o-ring and cleaned the whole thing up; then I filled the groove where the o-ring would be with black permatex and put the thing back on. That has held up pretty well for ~6 months, but now it seems to be leaking again...

So, what I'm thinking of doing is buying a sheet of cork gasket material and resealing the whole thing with permatex again.... I don't trust buying a new o-ring is going to fix this problem or I would have done that already.

Has anyone tried this with any success or have any other recommendations on how to fix this problem permanently?

thx

Matt

Okay, so I did this today, I'll report on findings as I found out how this works...

I bought a sheet of high-temp gasket material at the local auto parts store. Traced a pattern onto that using the clutch cover itself and cut that out. Then put high-temp black permatex on all the surfaces and put the whole thing together... Has to be better than what I had before.

thx
