Right, I've done some searching around but I will assume from the start my head isn't in the best possible shape, so here goes:
1999 SV650S as per my current avatar, coming home from work yesterday in the middle of light rain, the dash lights go out, tacho and rev counter stop working, no indicators (rear light went out too, but at the time I didn't realise that since I was riding the thing ;) ).
As soon as I reach home (couple of miles later) I proceed to check the fuses. Bingo, blown 15A fuse (the dash / indies one). New fuse in place, everything works again. Today I start her up, everything still working, 500 yards down the road I'm left with no dash / indies / rear light again, so turn back and head home.
Like Rictus said in a previous thread,
...it's wrong to assume replacing a blown fuse without finding the cause will fix anything, indeed it's almost always bound to lead to at minimum the same happening again or even an electrical fire which could write off the bike  .
(...)
If your bike has already told you, not once but three times you've got a problem and all you do is replace the fuse 9weakest part of the circuit for that very reason) don't be surprised to have it come back to bite you.
I already read something about chaffing points, bolts going through the main loom near the riders seat, etc, and I'll be checking that as soon as I can (I'm not home right now). In the meantime, is there anything else I should be checking? This thing is really putting me off, so apologies if the subject has already been done to death; if so, please point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance,
Filipe
