This is probably a newbie question; I searched for it but couldn't find it.

On my 2002 SV650, when I clutch out to the friction zone it'll pull the bike forward for an inch without gas and stall. On my friend's GSX-R and ZX-6, the bike would pull forever without gas. I've grown used to this but life would be 10x easier if the pull was stronger. Whats the problem here? Idle? I thought I found the idle on my bike but it seems as if it doesn't twist.

What revs does the bike idle at?

With my K6, so long as I let the clutch out slow enough, she'll pull me along all day at about 8mph happily on flat ground.

My idle is set around 1400rpm.

Around 900-1000.

Around 900-1000.

Thats probably what the problem is, turn the idle speed up to around 1200 - 1300 rpm, some people run it a little higher, but I've found that works for me.

The problem is I don't know where the idle is as well. I looked at the OM and thought I found the knob but its like it feels like it doesn't twist.

Its on the clutch side of the bike, it pokes out between the frame reasonably near the riders seat.

Small black knob sticking out of a hose connected to the carb?

Yep thats the one.

Yeah, I tried twisting that but it feels like doesn't move at all and I'm just twisting the hose along with it. What direction would I have to twist to up the idle?

This is also typical difference between fuel injection and carbs. The ECU will tell FI to try and stop the engine stalling. Your tick over is pretty slow though.

No it won't, at least not once they are warm. No difference between the two, you still need the idle screwed in on the pointy.

Agreed, a pointy still has to have the correct idle speed. Most FI systems have a sort of anti stall though but as you correctly state, if its too slow the anti stall will not have a chance to work.

I cant remember, I had the same problems though, in the end I stuck a flat blade screwdriver into the slot on the knob and used a little more pressure and that turned it enough to adjust the idle speed how I wanted.

I have exactly the same issue, idles at around 1k, I have tried the black knurled knob but that is solid so didnt want to force it in fear I will cause a shed load of damage. Did try the flat blade driver but still couldnt get enough pressure to move it. Have settled with the fact I will have to just keep a vigilant eye on the revs for the 1st 10 mins of the ride..:(
