forecast (http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?world=0008) looks good. anyone going?
I am *really* looking forward to this, even more so that motogp/wsb. I think we're in for a cracking season - the Duke boys from last year, Rea joining champion Kiyo at Honda, a proper Suzuki team (in comparison to last year's muppets), the new R1 for the Yamaha boys
all I need to do now is remember *not* to look at the forum until *after* I've seen the racing ;-)
Yep, looking forward to this as well.
I'll be trackside sat, sun and monday\\:D/

Give me a chance to play with my new lens...
Jdub, other than the hairpin, where else would you recommend for good photo opportunities at Brands ?
.

I presume BSB still on ITV this season? if so are they showing the race on Monday as it's bank holiday and they'll have to show the usual load of old crap films etc.
If it's not on ITV it's usually on Men & Motors innit?

Try Sheene Curve (the curve formaly known as dingle dell, or Dingly Dangly if your Troy Bayliss). I get great pictures there with a simple digital camera
Matt
Jelster,
As matt's pointed out, sheene curve, the entrance and exit to stirlings and then the inside at druids is always good. I prefer the exit to stirlings and just after the fence at dingle dell.
As for TV coverage, the second race will be shown live on ITV4 with the first race recorded and shown later. The TV coverage starts at 16h00 on monday afternoon. Once again, ITV are shafting the fans who cannot be at the races by pushing **** like football, old movies and F1 ahead of BSB. They will repeat on ITV1 later in the week. Sky will however be broadcasting the BSB, Supersport, Superstock, virgin media cup and 125cc races from 21h00 on SS3 on monday.
I'll be there on saturday afternoon, sunday afternoon and all day monday...
Well Oiled

No worries,
The ITV thing is annoying though...
I've had the champions league football on for a bit now in the background and there have been loads of plugs for the boxing, "a great motorsport weekend with the Malaysian Grand Prix" and even at least 2 plugs for the boat race. But not one mention of BSB on pushed to the corner ITV4.
This is the opening round of the most popular motorsport in the country and most wouldnt know it was on!
So I've had a look and people can leave comments at: dutyoffice@itv.com (dutyoffice@itv.com)
If people want the sport to get out to the public send them a message and make sure they not only promote it properly, but give it the coverage and time slot it deserves. If even the regulars on here at least do it we may be able to make then see sense.
Okay,
A full list of competitors for the weekend can be found HERE (http://www.mcrcb-events.co.uk/gallery/Brands%20Hatch%201.pdf)
Judging from the sunday test times at snetterton, it looks like kiyo is going to have a fair amount of competition for his crown this year. Leon Camier certainly is the dark horse in the mix. Rutter is looking good on the MSS Kwak but strangely Shakey and Stalker are a little bit out of it as far as the times are concerned. Having an F06 999 doesn't seem to have slowed down the airwaves boys either...seems the trick bits from italy are certainly doing what they were bought in for.
Looks like its going to be a cracker of a weekend!
I was down there yesterday, sadly don't think I can make it down for the racing. A few nice bikes about tho.

Thanks mate. I posted this to the duty office:
"Easter Monday sees the opening round of the British Superbike championship. Local lad Leon Haslam will be going all out to make up for being pipped at the post in the final round of last year’s championship. Along with many others I enjoyed ITV’s coverage last year, so why is this eagerly awaited event relegated to ITV4? I hope this is a one off and full coverage will be resumed for the rest of the season’s racing."
BTW if anyone reads the TV mags it ain't listed for ITV4 (at least not in the one I have) but on the website it is. 16:00 - 18:00.
Cheers Keith

You're not alone, ITV appear to have forgotten to inform Virgin Media to begin broadcasting ITV4 two hours earlier than normal, so there are a few people unexpectedly joining you in the 'no bike racing' club!

LOL, Well, hope you managed to watch it! Interesting racing, shame about CW and LH.
But 2 questions;
1. Why is James Cracknell host?
2. Who is that woman doing the pit lane chat??? "Look at the back of the grid.........." No love, I'd rather look at James Toseland who is sitting right in front of the camera who you obv don't recognise.
D'oh.

At least they've finally got two good commentators (Jack Burnacle and Jim Whitham)
Also I think James and Jane have met ;)

Didn't she used to be in Gladiators ?
She does a lot a of the bike reviews on MSN I think.
She's no Suzy Perry, but then again she's not been doing it long.
I actually like her, very attractive too !

Wow! What a great day yesterday. Me and Maria sat in the grandstand at paddock hill, I havnt been a granstand attendee before, and the veiw from there was awesome! We got some fairly good pics (considering the camera) which I'll put up later.
Feel really frustrated for Stalker - that GSXR1000 was sliding around horribly coming out of paddock, you could see how much time he was loosing with the rear spinning up. Those hondas, by comparison, seem to have excellent traction off the corners.
My "Rider of the Day" has to be Leon Camier. Anyone who even considers going round the outside of another rider at clearways is brave, but to have a go at walker (who made that suzuki very wide) on the outside of clearways is just plain crazy. Coupled to the fact it was his first major event on a superbike (i beleive he did the 8 hour at suzuka?), he did exceptionaly well.
Jonny "stormy" rae on the H&M honda was also brilliant. I think this seasons BSB is the most competetive for years.
Seems dunlop had alot of problems yesterday thought, leon haslam also fell victim to rear traction issues...
Matt
Yeah, It was a brilliant day! I met Jelster and his friend (his name's just slipped my sieve of a mind) at Westfield corner and asked a number of couples dressed in alpinestars gear if they were Matt and Maria but gave up after the 10th couple said no.
I have a few pics to post up later.
I did manage to catch the sky broadcast last night but missed the ITV show...pity about that:p I'm looking forward to Thruxton...that #36 Duc always goes very quickly down in 'ampshire:D

Haha Jdub! Next time we'll arrange a meet-up! I'm thinking of going to mallory later in the season, but I'll definatly be at brands WSBK and next brands BSB meet towards the end of the season. Its so good having a bike now, I can go to BSB without needing my old man to take me.
I would go to thruxton but I dont have the time, but I went years ago and it was a bloody good day out (haydon won in the clarion suzuki that time out in a race). My money is on the Honda's swallowing up the dukes ;) C'mon Stormy Rae!!!!
