As I've read posts by members calling their bikes both "he" & "she" I thought I'd run a poll to see how many of each we have !!
Mine are definitely Male - a naked SV Thou & a BMW 1200 GS - how could they be anything else
What Helga and Anastasia? Just can't think now...

Mines female
- thinks ........ should have got a naked one.
Female - got great hooters!! :smt043
All of my bikes are just bikes. No gender. Same with cars. Don't understand this genderising of vehicles. Strange lot.
She's female, cos I'll never fully understand her, oh and cos she's call Gertrude which would be an odd name for a bloke.

I voted "female but a little on the butch side" - because I automatically say "she" but then I think, should that really be "he" ;)

Definately a female. Tempermental, high maintenance, always needing the latest assessories, needs to be warmed up before being ridden hard. and only once a week if I am lucky.
Yup its definately a bitch.

Deffo female. Slick, sporty, looks fabulous, sounds great. Need I say more? Mine is called Raven, cos she's a wee bit of a goth!
The 'Blade is all male, but a gentle ol' thing who looks after me.
The SV was male, but also gayer than a sackful of monkeys on helium. ;)
100% Female.
Half because it's natural to refer to them as female as a figure of speech (like ships). That said the other half 'cos that sort of seems right. The smallest baby (not as in infant but as in affectionate term for female much over used in pop songs) is called Jenava which sounds female to me. There's also the practical aspect. How could you "ride the tits off" a male bike? (No offense intended by the use of this phrase, though some will surely be taken).
voted inanimate object.
which it is.

Me and Bluesteel, we are as one. We are Zen. We are male…
…but we can be overtly flamboyant at times.
I think mine is female. Little bit aggressive, but gentle when appropriate. Likes to play and dance, but will behave and look after 'us' when required ......
oh my god we must be nuts!

I don't think of bikes as being anything but inanimate objects, but if you take the French idea that everything has a gender then it would be 'le harley', 'la ducati' and 'le speed triple'. I'm not sure what gender i'd have assigned to the SV, probably 'le SV'.
The Ducati was 'la' for being Italian, temperamental and high-maintenance.
Definitely, female... But I named her SVen.... :)
Mitch
Both definately female(names don't show it - Rufus and Clunk!) though not sure about the ER6??
Girlfriend calls her the mistress, so must be female. A butch one!

My beloved Suzi Vee
I like to ride my lady every day!!
Only ever really thought of it as being a bike but if pushed would have to say female simply because I wouldn't ride a bloke!

I throttle me bitch.
I used t have to choke my bitch every morning :D
strange question, never really thought of it that way.
Thinks for a moment...
a) you ride it long and hard and you like the feeling.
b) it keeps going as long as its looked after and has enough Lubrication / fuel.
c) you spend cash on them to make them look good and presentable.
d) They like a good servicing at regular intervals.
e) when you come off it cost lots of cash...
I started calling it an "it" but it's gone to a "They" now.... humm interesting...
yep might change my vote now... 100% Female.

my thou's a bird:)
That's obviously 'cos you have the 'soft' faired version :p
Well my bikes previous owner called it James so I guess she assumed it was male. She was wrong of course.
I have never given cars bikes or anything else that doesn't have a real live pumping heart a gender. I have never even given a pet name to any of them.
Except the SV but there is a proper story behind that one that most already know.

Harriet Honda and Grace Griso...

I suppose mine's a male... I occasionally talk to my bikes as if they were dogs or horses- "Good lad", "Good boy"... And it's always boy, not girl, so there you go. I've also been known to pat them on the tanks.
Before anyone starts, talking to bikes as if they were dogs makes no les sense than talking to dogs as if they were people, and we all do that.

I talk to ours all the time when I'm cleaning him. I've also been known to give him a kiss on the nose cone and say, 'Thank you Baby', after a particularly great day out.

I call my bike bill, as in bill the bike, so i guess it must be male. Not that i like the idea of riding a male though
Wife laffed at me today cos we passed a group of guys out on their bikes and i got all excited and yelled - look at all those Bills.

All my cars and bikes have been female. Oh and the wife calls Suzi the b**ch... (No jealousy between my laides honestly...)
