View Full Version : Write Offs
Having participated in this on visordown, I was wondering how the folks of the org fare in comparison. I suspect that aside from a few of us, that most are probably lucky to have nil points.
Ok, here we go, award yourself points per write off category for bikes you've had written off:
Cat A - 10 points
Cat B - 7 points
Cat C - 3 points
Cat D - 1 point
I've made the points quite apart because someone with a few scratches and therefore Cat Ds shouldnt compare to a completely anihilated bike that constitutes a Cat A. 8-[ Bonus point if you achieve write offs on the same bike.
Ok Im standing on 13 points with a Cat A and a Cat C.
Btw, points don't mean prizes in this case other than appreciating perhaps the higher the points the nicer it is to be here and posting. ;) :)

Bit of a derail here, but how did your SV end up as cat A not B lyn? It wasn't completely destroyed (ie, fire) so I thought things like engine (I assume yours was ok) could have been salvaged?

Add another bonus point :p
Thinking about it maybe we can average it over years riding. Ill think on how to do that :smt001

Erm no, insurers confirmed thursday its a total loss and Cat A. Nothing salvageable on it apparently other than rear end and that was questionable. Basically its so damaged they cant guarantee any parts salvaged off of it :smt009

13 points in 11 months :(
Do you get extra for clocking them up in a short space of time :p
30 points in one day.... got 3 bikes back from the gulf, and on in-inspection there was too much work to deem them a cost effective repair.

Cat As????
Hmmm should probably have put what the categories mean earlier doh!
Not cost effective write offs are usually Cat C or D. Cat D is usually uneconomic repair, Cat C is uneconomic but also some structural damage.
Cat B is cant go back on road, significant structural damage but has salvageable bits, Cat A is catastrophic damage ie too dangerous to go back on road, no salvageable bits ie it goes straight to be crushed.

11 - 1 cat A (last SV) and 1 cat D (ER5 from before that, now back on the road, somewhere)
Me either :D
Me as well, I've only owned 2 bikes.
Nor me. Wouldn't have thought it's something to be proud of!

I was only doing this out of interest, not as a badge of honour or "something to be proud of" :dozey:
As much to see whether in comparison to visordown, bikers on the org are a more careful bunch, which it does seem to be in comparing the threads. :D

Sometimes it really means not worth the hassle of salvaging bits, what with liabilities and labour and whatnot. Engines are easy to recover, frinstance, but not so easy to test, transport and store.
No points here btw...

No points for me yet. How about including milage to make the results a little more comparable? In which case, I'm 0/8000.
