Blush! Baph wouldn't agree after last Thursday's crap lines, running wide etc. Improved, but was a very shaky ride to start with.
Doh! was not that clean when we finished! ED took some photos of our mucky steeds after playing in the wet. Have to say the new springs / emulators made the front feel soooooo much more planted in the rain.

Them's not me LuckyPants! They expired in Canada...... see another thread here somewhere if you can be @rsed!
Well what a day!!!
Of course, I was late. Very late in fact, by the time I'd sorted the child it was comin' on for 11.15 - aaaaarghhhhhhhh I'm gonna be so late. So chugged up the A5 from Shrewsbury, bank holiday traffic just hideous, especially around Oswestry. Over the bridge at Glyn Ceiriog (very high, I hate that bridge) took a left at Halton, clear run down the hill to Chirk (all of a mile at best) and then those bloody caravans again. Filtered for England again through Llangollen (pics later) - it's a bottleneck on the A5, all these folks late for the ferry at Holyhead but did I care (no) as I sailed down the offside. Shot up the hill through the Horseshoe Pass and the bloody fuel light came on!! Stupid here forgot to fuel up at S'bury. Oh ****, I'm in the middle of nowhere, no petrol station for miles... thought Quiff would know, he knows everything after all.
Anyway to pic 1.
This is Luckypants (Mike):
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a127/Sythree/DSC02074.jpg
He was only stood next to me when I said to Quiff 'Luckypants is coming, he'll be here soon' and I wondered why everyone fell around laughing
Quiff was having a helmet hair day:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a127/Sythree/DSC02075.jpg
But his bike was looking good, especially now he's taken the stickers off:p :
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a127/Sythree/DSC02076.jpg
And here is Mike's bike. Those twin Renegades have to be heard to be believed, loud and oh so de-e-e-e-e-e-p. And the engineering to get the cans in place is just so. It's pure sex on wheels:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a127/Sythree/DSC02077.jpg
By the time I stood around for a few mins yapping, it was time for a coffee but it was so busy that by the time I'd come out armed with a mug of dishwater the Staffs mob that Quiff had come with had buggered off. Leaving me and Quiff and Luckypants. Anyway I was the pillock who'd forgotten to fuel up so Mike and Quiff very kindly led the way down into Ruthin to the nearest fuel station. Couldn't resist a pic of this, parked up next to me:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a127/Sythree/DSC02078.jpg
Anyway we eventually got to the organic cafe at Rhug (on the A5, just past Corwen) only to find the Staffs mob had been there for lunch already and were leaving, so Quiffy did a yewwie and shot off. Mike and I had lunch there and Quiff it wasn't expensive!!!!! It was very good. Me drooling over a beef roll and a RSVR.
There aren't any pics of the next bit as there wasn't time to stop. Mike is a riding god and I didn't want to hold him up any more than I was doing anyway, because I'm so slow. Headed off towards Betws-y-Coed, but the rain was getting steadily worse so we turned off right down an ace hilly and twisty road that led through a forest back to Ruthin, it was terrific even in the rain. I wanted to do it again so off we went to Denbigh (by this time I'm completely lost, I didn't recognise the roads/place names - all long, in Welsh, and began 'Llan...' or 'Pen-y-...') turned off onto another brill road down by a whacking great lake, through a forest, and hey presto we're back on the original road - the dog leg?? Baph if you're reading this, I think you'll know where we are?).
Ended up in Ruthin for a coffee at this place (on the right, the Castle Hotel):
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a127/Sythree/DSC02083.jpg
Then back home. Here's a few pics of Llangollen. It's a sweet little town on the River Dee, full of antique shops and with a nightmare traffic problem.
Looking downstream:

And upstream:

On closing - I had a brilliant day. Huge thanks to Luckypants for putting up with me being so slow, I hope I didn't cramp your style Mike. This bloke really is amazing, as Quiff said his brake light never comes on, and I hardly ever saw him change gear, and whilst things happen fast, they happen as if the bike was on rails. And huge thanks to Quiff - soz you missed your lunch:p

mate- I have reserves to live off.. missing my lunch was no prob.
you will be pleased to know I have now sorted out my helmet hair and I am looking like Mikes bike- sex on wheels!...
honest- he goes into those corners and I think- whhooo too fast and then whoosh he's out the other side and got 100 yards on me .. and we both know he wasnt going quick - cos of us.. .. he can go much quicker- no doubt I will see it on the norf south .
looks like you had a good time later on.. I keep wanting to stop at llangollen for pics.. will do one day ..
and contrary to popular belief - i do not know everything- petrol stations are an area of concern in my general knowledge I must brush up on them ..
kim made me a big chilli when I got home so all was good.. ..
oh - and my bike is quite stickerless now as u see... but I am feeling the need for stickers... its a drug!..

Ed was fine to go at your pace, it is nice to have some company on those roads. Sorry for not stopping more often, should have learned from Kwak yesterday. Views were pretty poor with the clouds and rain though.
FYI We went from Rhug on A5 to Cerrigydrudion, but as the weather was getting worse to the West, we went on the B5105 to Ruthin. As expected (by the local :) ....) the weather improved and it was dry in Ruthin. My on-the-hoof plan was to head into the Clwydian hills for a play on dry roads, but Ed was so keen on the B5105 he wanted to do it again. So we went to Denbigh, A543 to Llyn Bran and B4501 back to Cerrigydudion so we could do the B5105 again!

Glad you had a good day. It gets said on here so many times, but I think it is true. Ride at your own pace, no one minds. I was not bothered and hope you did not mind me nipping off from time to time.
Seems like you folks had a nice ride, shame I'd planned to take the kids to the theatre really :(
Blush! Baph wouldn't agree after last Thursday's crap lines, running wide etc. Improved, but was a very shaky ride to start with.
I was actually going to post something along the lines of seeing your brake lights Mike, then I scrolled down to that  Find any cow crap on that ride? ;)

Now that I don't believe Mike  ;)
Next time you lot are out this way, I'll try escape for a play, so long as it's not this weekend coming :( At least I've shown Mike I'm not quite the hooligan he thought I was :)
you lucky lot, i spent all day sitting at work with almost no customers coming through the doors, jealous, me,:smt068 , perhaps next time i'll call in sick.:)

No, but that particular corner was covered in greasy cow poo left overs in the rain. Glad I knew it was there............

Slippy stuff that cow poo in the dip. Good pics, shame I was busy that day :(
I actually told jen that there was a planned ride around north wales and got the "oh" response. Her expecting me to disappear out on the bike. But I quickly followed with "...but we've planned to take the kids to the theatre, so theatre it is."
Why oh why do the kids come before the bike? Must put some effort into that one...
