Set off on my black k5 S to the Isle of Man on Saturday from Newcastle. Hit a rabbit only about 45 miles from home, couldn't avoid taking to the grass, front wheel dug in and chucked me off. Fairing smashed along with damage to various other bits and bobs. :(
We carried on with the trip after sticking stuff back together with tape, I confirmed that the bike is functionally OK by going flat out over the mountain section of the TT course a few times. :D
So what's a new front bit going to cost me? Any other tips or ideas for using this "opportunity" to make her better than before?
I've gone over 2 rabbits with my SV (at seperate times) and its never affected the bikes direction. How did you manage to off because of one?
I've been looking for some rabbit stickers with big red crosses through them to stick on the lowers of my bike, a bit like fighter planes with the pics of enemy kills on the nose

I hit one last year as well and was fine, it was a big bugger this time though. You're right, I still should mave made it around the corner, I think I just got a surprise and got fixated on the verge instead of tipping the bike in properly.
Thanks for highlighting my incompetence though ;)

On Friday, I first got a hare going over Oakenclough Moor followed by a pheasant on Quernmoor. Bloody nasty mess on me fairing to clean off
 that wasn't my intention mate, sorry ;)
I also nearly hit a dear once on my SV, that was a real brown trouser moment, i was that close to it i swear it left fur on my mud guard :pale:

I missed a sheep by inches last year, that was pretty scary.
This time I never felt in any danger even though I crashed, stupid expensive mistake really. Anyone got a full list of parts prices?

I hit a dog many moons ago with an engine bar of an XJ650, I only just stayed on on that one. Oh and I have hit lots of flies over the years.
Sorry to hear about your off though, at least the bike is OK to ride though. Good luck in finding a sensible price for the bits.

I once got a dead squirrel wrapped around the rear downpipe of my Virago. Lovely.

Dunno bout rabbits but I had to change my underwear after a full grown male pea**** took flight right in front of me! I was doin bout 85mph at the time and managed to just duck under it although its trailing feet hit my lid. I reckon it would have bowled me right of the back of the bike (Bandit at the time) if Id hit it square on, or taken me head of!
Fresh road kill is as bad, had a hairy little front end slide on a squished rabbit on a left hander.

Shoot. Sorry to hear about this mate. Hope you get it all fixed. I regularly go out rabbit hunting with the bike. They seems to love the sound of my bike and want to have a real good look.......then squish. It's like hitting a big cats eye really. Daft blighters.
