Yeah, the SV is definitely a big girl's bike. Your workmates are right. Sell the SV and buy a Harley, that's a man's motorcycle.

How gives a toss what the Sun says?

The SV is a great bike, you'll love it. Are your workmates all car drivers?

They won't think it's girly when you fly past them!

(P.S. I bought mine from a girl!!!):smt043

Try this for size:

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bikereviews/searchresults/Bike-Reviews/Suzuki/Suzuki-SV650S-1999-current/?&R=EPI-441

It's the MCN review of the SV. Makes for good reading me thinks!!!!!

The Sun & MCN say opposite things huh (haven't read either article). Now, what's the odds on that?

Is the SV a girly bike? I suppose it is, looks good, sounds great when you give it... erm... u-rating, can't say that.

Is it girly when you delicately and precisely leave bigger & faster bikes way behind in the twisties? Yup, suppose so.

If the SV is a woman, I have no problem with being on top, you should ask your work mates why they want to ride a bloke!

Either the SV forum is a strange entity where men chat more than women,:rolleyes:OR in fact, the majority here are men.

I'm a bloke. I love the bike. nuff said!

Besides SV has many claims to fame, everyone i know calls it the 'wheelie machine' because its easy to wheelie apptly.

Ahh the Sun, the Journalism equivalent of the Beano.

Who on earth gives a flying anything what a fat Australian who lives in the US and his drones think about bikes.
I agree with the previous comment, you should buy a Harley instead, then you can be ‘cool’ and just like the Terminator or American Chopper.
‘Scuse me Mr Murdoch, we have Islands and corners here in the UK, something that both your current residence and your homeland severely lack!
Go back to spouting of real worthy news!

In summary, the Sun is read and written by idiots!!!!!!!! It is naught more than an adult comic book.

Well I wouldn't agree 100% that it is a girls bike because I did own one afterall.

However it does remind me of what Top Gear said about the Porsche Boxster.

If you get into a conversation with a Boxster/SV owner the topic soon turns to why they didn't get a 911/GSXR.

The reason most people buy a Boxster/SV is because they can't afford the 911/GSXR.

So maybe it is a hairdressers bike as opposed to a girls bike?

Before loads of people come out with their reasons as to why they bought an SV, just remember I said "most" owners buy them for that reason not "all".

Just a theory so don't shoot the messenger! :)

The Sun is to quality reporting what The Spice Girls were to quality music. Treat what they write with the same level of respect that sane well-adjusted people treat The Spice Girls with.

Lots of people - especially it seems the sports-riding 'elite' - have a dig at the SV. I have no problem with that, everyone has their own opinions. This is roughly what I posted on BCF.co.uk a few days ago...

It may not be as pretty as a Triumph Daytona 675 - but then not many things are

It may not be as fast as a GSX600R in a straight line

It may not have 258billion suspension settings like the Yamaha R6

My reason to ride is not to get my knee down and go hooning around the twisties at warp speed (but I will probably get there!).

It manages two up without drama

Its comfortable through town and over distance

It will outpull just about any car it comes up against

AND - the only machine that sounds better to me is a Ducati.

Ah. but thats the new Sun bike writer. The old one, a good friend of mine, raved about the SV. Well he did after i done a few time on his Honda Hornet 9!!

Yes the Sv has the girl bike image, but its far from it. Just because its not he latest R1Ninjagixerbladeturbonutterbastid people think its a crap bike. It is what it is. A fairly well built, reliable, fair handling 'budget' sports bike/touer/commuter, that if looked after will reward the newest of riders to those who have been riding a bit. Its a grin machine

Huge girls bike! Everyone knows that a real mans bike is a yellow curvy SV

No, seriously, i take that back. The SV is a serious tool in the hands of a good rider, and they are a well respected bike by riders in the know.

It may have an image in some places as a girlie sort of bike, but it isnt. In my mind, its a bike someone buys because its their first bike (little money for alot of bike) and they dont want something that will kill them! Or, its a bike someone buys because they are coming back to biking. Or, its a bike that someone wants because its differant. SV's atract my attention, but it takes a seriously hot R1 / GSXR / fireblade to get the same amount of atention from me.

The SV is a great bike in whatever guise it comes - dont be fooled, it'll eat up GSXR etc riders in the right (capable!) hands.

Well the main selling point of the SV is its economy. Cheap to buy and cheap to run. If that makes it a girly bike then girls either must have little cash or be tight with dough. I'm glad this has come to my attention.

Actually if the reason the Sun thinks the SV650 is a girls bike, is the fact that a few girls own them - then that makes most if not all bikes girls bikes!!!!

I'm sure that on this forum there are female owners of GSXR's, CBR-RR's to name but a few and I'm sure that these bikes wouldn't be considered as girls bikes......................or are they?
