View Full Version : Mmmmmmm, tasty.
Cheese on toast.:smt045
It's like the vegetarian's equivalent of the Bacon Butty.
Don't get me wrong - I'm definately biased towards the central nervous system bearing foodstuffs (though potatoes are honorary animals - they have eyes anyway  )...
... but cheese on toast. It definately bears the resemblence in that you smell/see it being made, you've gotta have some yourself.

Send one over, please. Ok, make that one of each (cheese on toast and bacon butty).
Mmmmm cheese on toast, gotta smear marmite on before you melt the cheese or worcestershire sauce

There, that's another one. Chips with vinegar - one wiff of that and most people's mouths start to water...
... even if they don't like vinegar.;)

Bugger now i really want fish and chips
Does cheese not contain rennet ? which is bits of cow's stomach and therefore making it vegetarian non-friendly ?

some does, but not all. supermarkets are pretty good at labelling whether or not cheese is veggie these days.

Ahhh the bacon butty - the WMD in the war against vegitarianism.
Aparently its what converts most veggies over to the dark side again :)

Smother them in Daddies brown sauce and away we go!!!!!!!!!

Food of the gods, had a gorgeous one made for me today, with proper butter and everything :smt045
Cheese on toast, you don't put any of that marmite stuff on it :pukel:
Here's how it's done.
two slices of proper(going to kill you) white bread.
Sliced thick Chedder (not sure sometimes like the mature stuff, but sometimes not, so to taste).
Toast the bread, spread with butter and place the cheese on the top.
Grill until the cheese bubbles and remove from grill before any colour comes on the top.
And that's it, not frills nothing else.
(although mock Pizza is the same but you butter the bread with tomatoe sauce, and add italian sausage on the cheese and grill until the sausage goes crispy).
Cheers Mark.

Bacon, cheese and marmite sandwich. If you like all three ingredients then you'll love them all together. Seriously, go try it and then tell me you don't like it.

Yes - I have to confess that I'm no longer a vegetarian. It was a bacon butty and no I didn't feel guilty.

Heh heh heh, see the evil this thread has started as Orgers nationwide head for the grill.
Red Leicester's my preference by the way - though Wendsleydale is really nice on a bagel.
I had cheese on toast with worcester sauce on the weekend... it was extra mature cheddar, which with the sauce made it a little too salty... I'll stick with mild/medium cheese next time.
I was very disappointed.

Hate you K, read this thread at work yesterday and have been dying for some. Got home last night, shops shut and no cheese in the house.
Quick trot to the shops this morning fixed that, now one happy bunny after cheese and worcester sauce on toast.

Right, can't be out done by another mobility impaired member, off to the kichen now.
Breakfast in bread, got a fresh uncut loaf (read doorsteps) mushrooms, black pudding, bacon, fried egg, Uuuuuummmm, that should do (actually might fry the bread as well, just for good measure you understand), now when was the colestrol checkup ?
Back in a while.:thumright:

I had both of these cheeses today. The Wendsleydale I thought was a bit bland and tasteless. The Red Leicester was somewhat better with my tomato on toast.

That's why you shoudl ahve Wendsleydale on a bagel - the bread's sweeter and adds a little something to the taste.:thumright:

Ooooh - Cheddar Cheese on toast. Sweeeeet! Witha few dashes of Smoked Tabasco- heavenly.
You can keep yer Worcester Sauce- I use Smoked Tabasco on everything. Even pudding! It's the magic ingredient. (works well with a good red wine as a marinade for- er- any meat! Gawjuss!!)
Red Leicester- could never get into that- always found it a bit dry. I'm a mature cheddar man at heart, with a bit of Edam or smoked cheese as a treat! Mozzarella is good too. Cheeese. Mmmmmmm.... etc
