Just trying to work out a route for another GM rideout (fingers crossed eviltwin won't still be bikeless by then).

Anyway, I'm very keen on getting brekkie at the chalet (like on sunday) and then heading to the coast somewhere. Anyone got any recommendations for good places to visit on the coast? I've got a few ideas but woud be great to get some input from you guys.

I'll also make a new thread so people can vote for a possible date for a GM seaside rideout

I did a rideout last year to East Wittering, easily go to West Wittering which is the sandy beach. I'll try and put together a google map at some point. What roads/routes did you wanna re-use from the last rideout?

As long as Sarah gets her egg and chips she's happy! She won't care what route there is apart from that :D

Jelster, I found Route66 to be more comprehensive about portuguese roads and IIRC easier to use than M$ Autoroute. Have you tried it yet?

The problem with west wittering is the cost of the carparking about £4 each i think :smt102

Maybe, but I do have Autoroute and I've got a route that could be of use... And I can upload routes to my PDA with it...

Maybe the new Gmaps thingy will work (if I can find out how to use it...)

I have AR2007 as from the weekend. Much fun it is as well. :)

No idea on a destination, as long as its not Worthing or Bognor ;)

Maybe a 9.30 meet at the Chelet would be a nice start?

That was my thought too. Those that want breakfast can meet at Boxhill and ride to the Chalet and stuff there faces, people who want more time in bed can start from the Chalet at 9:30 - 10 ish. Everyone's happy :D

Oh yeah, and Sam tell's me that West Wittering parking was £2 last time we were there. (She was driving, I hadn't opened my eyes at that stage :P)

i don't know?!?

i quite like pebbles but i'm happy to organise a sandy beach if others would prefer. we go down to goring fairly often because my mum's got a beach hut there.

I think it'll probably come down to whether people are willing to poay for the parking which you pointedc out is only £1

so who's willing to pay £1 for parking at west wittering?

Bugger. That's probably the only sunday I've got free between now and the end of May, so I cannae move it I'm afraid. Sorry honey.

I'm not fussed as to sandy or pebbles, in fact I would prefer pebbles as when wearing bike boots, pebbles don't hurt. Sand just gets everywhere. It's evil I tell you.

Jelster, what's wrong with Bognor? I know an amazing route to Bognor. A322 to guildford, A281 to Horsham then A29 to Bognor. Bloody a.may.zing.

Or do you mean all the chavs in Bognor?

Anyhooooo. Wittering 'tis nice.

just stay away from mussels funny now even the thought of them now makes me heave

it was a great day tho. apart from that except for traffic which is why early starts are always good at this time of year although we don't tend to rideout out in winter

Sorry could not spare the time to read the whole thread, but Boscombe is a good option with a ride through some of the forest roads to get there. Gives you the option of fast blast home up A3 or M3 for those who want to get home in a rush or nice bibmle through ringwood, winchester, Petersfield etc

Seaford is a nice long pebble beach with free parking for about a mile right on the sea wall and there is always a Mr Whippy there.

Just to throw a spanner in the works...

Have you considered travelling West before you hit the coast ?

For instance, past Reading the A4 is pretty good, and you can dive down one of the good A roads that head South, such as the 338, head towards Salisbury, then Blandford and on to Weymouth.

You could even arrange a get together with some of the South & West bunch...

Just an idea.
