not mush trouble actually rinch- think I may have used thinner stuff than others cos it cut quite easily- it is still strong enough though and easy to bend.. ...
it really isnt hard- (after your help) .. once u have the template-- its just then sit for ten mins with a brew and have a real real good look where u gonna cut.
should look brill when its done.!
right- off to st jame's park now-- looonngg drive !
Where did you get the alli from, just B&Q or something?

got in at 4.15am this morning..and out again in an hour.!
Grinch- yea from B &Q- a bigger one though- they have loads all sealed in plastic.. cost about £8 .. and there will be enough left over for me to make saddle shutters too.
So that number plate against the wall is from your old motorcycle that you no longer own right :?:

few pics.. not too many- ha ha ..
just finished cleaning up the undertray then primed and painted it.
made my own bracket for the numberplate out of a cheap tool hangard from fcus.. and then cut a strip of the spare undertray metal that was leftover and bent and drilled the ends for the indis.. and holes in line with the holes onthe numb plate holder.. so the plastic number plate bolts hold it all together
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b326/sigourneysbeaver/Image000-2.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b326/sigourneysbeaver/Image005.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b326/sigourneysbeaver/Image007.jpg
bottom pic.. larger holes- the numb plate bracket slides in through there and the long hoks are then layed flat on the reverse of the undertray .. these have holes in them down which are fed LED lights fo the plate.. . the LED's feed up from below and the locking nut for these also acts as a lock nut for keeping the number plate bracket in place. (all nuts blue locktite)
as per below-- ... small holes line up with the holes in the "arms" of the number P bracket that feed back through.. the the LED pushes fronthe undertray side through tthe tray and through the holes in the numb P bracket and locks down with the nut above- under the seat.

just lots of time and lots of tea.. and sitting thinking and planning..
and the odd nip in here to check out the site and the way others have done it..
tomoz.. should get it all double checked .. and the indis on.. will do them all neatly and hide the wires.. feed the wires up through the back of the number plate bracket holes and small zip tie them to the down brackets so they arent visible.. .. that is the plan..
the LED's just simply keep the orig wire that fed the number plate light- twist the same 2 colurs together off the 2 LEDs and then crimp onto the orig wire.(shortening the wire of course as there is looooaddsss of it.!

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b326/sigourneysbeaver/rsend.jpg
above is my idea-- not too artistic am I??.
indicators out of the side-
wire feeding up from indis where orange stripes are .. fed neatly through rear of hole that the number plate bracket goes through- then zip tied with real thin ties to the arms of the plate bracket...
reflector-- original one.! set below the plate- on a piece(and painted) of angle iron
LED's shining down where the white dots are above the number plate..
should all come together well I hope.. well we will see.. ha ha will put the above projeced idea and finsihed article next to each other tommorow when complete( hopefully)

ok quiff this maybe a sillt question but when it comes to the mot is all that legal or will u have to revert to stock? remember im a newbie
Quiff Wichard
22-04-07, 12:01 AM
far as I know its legal..
u mean the undertray ot the exhaust..!?
exhaust is a scorpion- I just put the stock one on for MOT.. which is a pain.. he knows I have the orig one - he always done my MOT-
wont even let me take it in bag to show him- HAS to be on the bike- boooooo
as for the undertray mefinks is OK cos LEDs in white on it- and will have the reflector also.

Dave, Where are your bungee hangers :?: Was just wondering what you are going to bolt the can too:?: I assume you have cut the bungee hangers off:?:
Looks like your doing a fine job on the back end build. Look forward to seeing the end result. Don't forget to put gromets round the holes you have drilled for the wires, otherwise they could chaff and short out.

OH I am supposed to have a hangar that attaches to the rear pillion rest coming from banditmania... ?????????????
was told it would be with the can as I said I got no bungee bars..
I am still waiting on it- but me being mr eager has utilised the bungee bracket- in a temporary fashion..

maybe make something far the led,s to angle into /towards the plate ,so as they dont show any white light backwards ..its a definate pull,,,but otherwise very nice ,,i done the same (no led,s but )cos i was told about the white light thingy and didn't want to chance it ,led,s dont give off much light ,but the traffic plod will have issues with it(and the mot man)

Quiff Wichard

kwak - its nearing hte end now not much else to do- just braided lines..
Richie- f**&&&in loads of swearing mate.. cant believe it took me so long- mind u I had loads of brews and sits by the pond and the telly in the shed distracted me.. but it took me all yesterday and half of today for the pipe and back end- oh and about 2 hours the last time when I took the snow shovel off..
Jim- I wondered that mate.. TBH the back light gives enough light off I reckon.. but hey ho.. just got some grommets on advice of Ape.. so maybe half a grommet at the plate side of the hole will tilt them back toward the plate.. mind yu the plate can be bent nice n easy and angled. so wewill see
hey it might all fall off yet when I ride it.. wich worriesme cos its over the back wheel..! no- it is bolted on and the plate bracket slides through two slots so wont fall off.. (I may just slip a cable tie beneath them inside the under seat bit and just tether them to something as a fail safe..
plus I utilised the clips at the rear on the rear fairing- the 2 corner ones so they are screwed on and I used threadlock.. loctite..
GODDAM THAT LOCTITE IS EXPENSIVE .. and u get hardly any !..
oh and guess what I got more piccies.. and I have rooted the B and Q wrapping out of the bin for the metal i used.. if anyones interested- maybe not eh ..
just waiting to see if htis bracket comes from banditmania and if it does and is no good or if it doesnt then I will be on the grinder and taking the oillion brackets off..! yeaaa.. neater lines.
Quiff Wichard
22-04-07, 07:35 PM
Ape -
this is my home made temporary bracket hangar..just bolted to the sub frame.. may not be strong enough yet but will be self evident if it breaks.. the can stays on without it but not to ride.. so if I ride I will stop a few times and check for wear n tear..

Grinch this is what I used.
it is quite bendable to firm enough.. didnt fancy using anything too stiff..
the pic of the metal I bent there with my hands.. quite resistant but possible..
I think it was £8.99 for the sheet.. and there is plenty left over for saddle shutters or for a bracket- it is a little thin for a complete number plate bracket I think-
SOZ IF THIS THREAD is getting long.. but I am bored anyway .. and it may be useful to someone somewhere.

Err sorry to say, what did you use to cut that up? did you use the template? Mine looks neater than that. Where did you end up putting the alarm and CDI box, i was able to fit them both under the left panel by making a bracket for the CDI unit and bolting both the alarm and CDI to the sub frame.
Hopefully you dont get any greef from thoes LED's as they are shining light behind.
Otherwise its not an easy job and its been done.

ooooo I thought it was quite neat.. lol ..
I have bent the edges up to form a lip..
I saw your thread about puttingthe cdi etc at the side.. but I have an alarm in there too. and wasnt too sure about weather and the cdi .. I can get everthing under the seat I need anyway ..
will go see the LEDS in a tic when its dark .. they can be angled no problem or blacked off at the front..
its a lose lose then eh-
if i dont have light on the plate I get done
if it shines wrong then - I get done..
hmmm not neat?? - now I will have to go and rip it all apart.!

Yeh, true, i think the glare from the paint makes the edges probably look worse in the pictures.
Only problem of bolting the alarm directly to the frame is that it becomes super sensitive, but i do have the most space available under the rear seat which is usefull.
Did you see my post on how i got the LEDs in the rear brake light and they point onto the numberplate.
Quiff Wichard
22-04-07, 09:22 PM
I didnt see that post no.... oo sounds good
I would like more room under the seat but what I got is enuff I spose.
and hell yea it makes it sensitive alright only got to blow on it.
I just been to see the LED'sinthe dark. not massive bright but yea- white light.. maybe they need black paint on the back?

22-04-07, 09:30 PM
Looks neat - one thing - have you put grommets in the holes where the indicator wires come through your tail-tidy? If not they'll eventually chafe through the insulation and short out your indicators, blowing a fuse.

Mr.Quiff I am be like your new shape bottom. So much more nice than big bottom no? I am be think that hose pipe can be rolled up bit more neat next time?
Thankyou for sharing your bottom with nice ORG peoples.
In regards to the reflector issue. Each MOT time I stick one of those tiny little round ones on the number plate especially for the MOT. As soon as the MOT is done, it comes off again and put on the shelf for the following year.

ok Pedrosa.
oh ad the hosepipe is now tidy !
I wont get pulled though will I for not having one?
Depends how well plod know the law.
Personally, I won't ride without some form of reflector. Handy that the Evotech tailtidy came with a little red sticker advertising them, and it reflects light. So that's stuck to the back of my plate light (stock).

oh yea-
I made my saddle shutters too now.. they aint too bad.
Just read through this again as I've just stuck the template to my ali from B&Q... Though I don't think I'll be using the number plate lights as I have a white slot in the red tail light that I think should do if I move my number plate up. We we see when I take the pic's. Now I have another job todo before I start this.

TBH Iwouldnt bother with the number plate lights if idid it again mate -
in fact imay doit again as i want it a bit neater and iwilldeffoleave them number plate lights out if i do.
i think as u say the rear light gives out enough light
and ihave had to bloskout the back facing bit of themanyway with blackpaint so that a white light is not facing backwards..
so yea- mefinks u can manage without-- just MOT time isnt it? stipulation.. but to me- if it is visible in the dark its fine
