A friend of mine popped round this morning, last vist he brought me a model TT600 (just to rub it in I'm sure;) ), and today he brought me this

Not quite right, but I got the message from the big cheesy grin :D

anyway, I thought I've got a few of these kicking about now (it's the old buy him a model motorbike, he'll love that, syndrome, I think.) so sorted them out, seems it's a bit of a collection

Anyone else ended up with something like that?
Cheers Mark.

I'll give you a clue, some of the little ones are from the 70's

Before I got married I used to build the Tamiya model bikes, I have over thirty. They are boxed up in the loft and have made three loft moves since being crated. I daren't look as the box rattles.

Never let family know know you collect something ornamental, you'll solve their Christmas and Birthday present dilemmas, but after 10 years you're run out of ways to say "that's what I always wanted".

I went through a spell of building those a couple of years back. My Rossi NSR500 and RC211V both highsided off my TV though :(

I'd love if there was an SV kit... I'd be down the shops getting a pile of them, and a couple of GSXR kits, and building wee models of mine in all its versions, because I'm that cool.

there is a pointy 1000 like this

But never seen a curvy, which is strange as I would have thought they would have made the best shape

But if you look closely you'll see the model speedtriple has been several colours as I try them out on the model first.

Cheers Mark.

Sitting here with a smile on my face thinking of Northy experimenting with the various combinations he can make with his models before he turns them into "real life" versions

Dunno cant say too much as I collect clocks, still trying to get the sister in law to leave me her 150 year old grand father clock. Only have three model motorcycles, one brought back by one of my shift in germany in glass, a pewter Ducati clock one and a "chopper" of indistint make

I got out of this at an early age when I discovered that I was the one that ended up dusting every bit of tat that crowded my shelves.:(

There are a couple of solutions to this - be a 'Style-Nazi', then they are too scared to buy you something that you may not like.
Alternatively just aim high and collect something really expensive.;)

For example I 'collect' first edition books and original artwork from comics, needless to say these are collections I've bought myself.
The family fallback would be Teddy Bears - of which I have a few... but I employ both techniques on this and only really collect what I call 'proper' bears...

... so, Stieff it is then - but even then it's gotta be one I like with a bit of personality.

These were both gifts. As you can see they are slightly dusty
I reckon the clock one is more fitting:rolleyes: plus it has working rear suspension, turning front wheel and bars and a moving side stand, still has the standard can though:(
