Going for my first proper ride tomorrow since passing my test on weds and was thinking of heading down to the coast on some nice A roads..
Can anyone recommend a route from Berkshire, near Reading down to the coast.. Probably gonna head down to Basingstoke and go that way. Got commitments this weekend so sneaked a half day off work tomorrow

Where on the South Coast ?
From Maidenhead, I'd either:
Take the M4 to J12, A4 to Marlborough, A338 to Salisbury, and then on to Christchurch, and head for the coast from there.
Or,
A33 to Basingstoke, B3400 to Andover, and take the A3057 to Romsey.
You could do the A33 to Basingstoke then trot down to Winchester and pick up the A272 and head East into Sussex, there's plenty of roads to the South from there...
Have fun, some of have to work
.
Damn, wouldn't have minded a nice ride tomorrow either. Unfortunately, I too have to work.
The roads down towards West Wittering beach are pretty good though

I do have that heady combination of barely legal tyres and brand new boots that feel like i have put my boot in a saucepan......oh yeh and my leathers are in Gloucester.....that said let me deliberate!
I should warn you now i must have sinned in a past life because as soon as i go on any ride-out the heavens open :)

We could meet in Old Windsor, that's not too far from you is it? I know a pub along there called the Bells Of Ouzley, it's a Harveter alongside the river.. or maybe Staines, don't know Staines but will find somewhere..
Have to warn you that i'm slow.. Only passed on weds so still getting used to the SV :-)

staines is good for me, bit of a way out for the A33 tho?
but from staines you have the A30, or head out to guildford and pick up the A31 /A281 etc

Yeah forget the A33, the A30 from Guildford looks like a nice direction to go in.. Could just head down in that direction , i'll follow you! :-)
I could be in Staines for 12:30 - 12:45 ish.. Will be coming through Old Windsor, Egham sort of way, do you know somewhere easy for me to find?

I have a few errands to run.....someones persuaded me to drive them(or should that be ride them!) to Oxford tomorrow. I may be sick of the sight of roads when i get back, but otherwise i may well join your merry band. I'll be taking it easy as the leathers are AWOL and i like my skin/flesh on my bone. I should be back by 10/11 AM, so ill post then.
If i do go then would you want to meet up somewhere on the route to Staines Nick....although we would probably cross paths anyway.

Ok mate, no probs.. If you are coming from Marlow then you may aswell meet me in M'head at 12:15. Taking it easy sounds like a good plan to me.. I got a set of textiles you can borrow if you want, nothing special, they are LIDL jobbies in medium.

The more the merrier!

Cheers for the offer mate, but i wear jeans quite often so 1 more day shouldn't hurt( remember these immortal last words ). Anyhow im more of a large or even an extra large...depends on brand etc :). Now i think about it i have no talcum powder so it would be a titanic battle to get the leathers on! I really should go shopping more often. Yes im a student and my cupboards contain only pot noodle and a solitary can of corn that noone wants to claim.
Where would you want to meet? Windsor side of Maidenhead so suggest away and ill do my best to get there. You will soon realise i have a wherever the traffic flow takes me riding ethic :)

Its ok, im still fairly fresh, only 1000-1500miles under me belt, but then again, i know ive come a long way since me wobbly begginings!
Staines, there is the chav drive thru McD's in two rivers, Halfords/homebase over the bridge, Lamas park coming from M25 / wraysbury. All good start points.

Muhahahaha definitely going now...and you will be pleased to know(sarah) i invested in some new leathers at DWR.....the voice of reason wins through :). Unfortunately they are black not yellow...but you cant have everything. That and i remembered Big-Apes photos and decided i like my legs the way they are.
Now ive just got to contend with breaking in new boots and leathers.....on the way back it felt like i had someone elses legs!
The real question now is....will Ian be awake? I hope so as were following him.

Prob should add Yellow curvy(best kind) black leathers gloves, white star wars boots and a lid with a bit of everything!
I see you both ride blue pointies....:)

Bad news - Mark (ASM-Forever) never made it to the meet, he had an off on the way..
Got a call from the ambulance service to say he was going with them to Wexham Park Hospital. They called back to say he had a minor leg injury so hopefully not too bad. Not heard from him yet though.
Bad luck dude! Let us know if you're ok..
Hey Nick - Not sounding good - hope he's ok. Let us know if you hear more.
I just read this.....Firstly hope the fella is ok........Secondly, Sarah you must be a gardian angel....
