On the way home last night heading out of London on the Archway road I was following a Blade and a few bikes at the speed limit (ruffli) and I saw a gsxr750/1000 old shape grey red and black coming the other way.
Without warning he dumped the clutch and screamed towards the bridge with his jet aircraft exhaust on the back wheel reaching the limiter and then changing up through the box all on the back wheel.
It sounded Flangetastic, looked the muts and OMG I wish I could do that. I was left with goose bumps at the thought of me actually likeing an IL4 and wanting to go straight to the stealers and buy one.
The sound of it has left an imprint in my head. I can still hear it now.
whoever it was :notworthy: hats off.

Mmmmm, not sure it would beat the sound of something like a 998 with twin
Termis on it though. imo. :smt025

Recipe for getting hooked on IL4's
Take 1 IL4 sportsbike
Add loud race can
Select gear 1
Place onto Upper Thames St, at the lights, just before underpass (heading East)
On green light, stay in 1st all the way through said underpass while hitting 15k RPM :smt120
Get hooked
Marvellous isn't it 8)

I'm obviously going to have to borrow one. Just the tought of riding something that sounds like an F1 car makes me go wobbly at the knees:D

Good point! I had a '99 748 with Termigs on it and that was naughty. Used to cook me plumbs in traffic tho:D
I always thought I would stick with V-Twins after owning an SV cos I love the noise they make.
But after a brief ride on a GSX-R I was hooked! IL4s with a race can scare the s**t out of me, they sound so angry, I cant get enough of mine now! Car drivers hear me coming from 2 miles away now, and move out of the way pretty quickly, whwereas on my SV, which I always thought of as being stupidly loud, Car drivers never seemed to register I was there!?
Seriously though, hitting 14k rpm at 6:30am on the way to work is the best possible cure for a boring day ahead

You can always follow me through the underpass, but 600's are better in such environments. They rev higher and if I hit the limter in 1st I'm doing over 85 mph, or 117 mph in 2nd....:p

Yeah. My 600 revs to over 15,000 rpm, but only does 78 is first and 104 in second. Talk about slow....!

I find that it's a very useful attribute for use on motorway slip roads :smt120
I am led to believe that, after 3rd, there are another 3 gears on my 'Blade. I'm not sure if they exist, and if they do, when to use them :D

Yes! An IL4 on full chat is a sound to behold. Not only does the bike look like its going some, but it sounds like it too. V-twins always sound deceptivly slow when going fast.
I'm dreaming of an R1 with race cans, maybe in 4 or 5 years time...

Fair enough, but how about a big V-Twin...........Aprilia RSV perhaps? :smt035

Mmmm RSV, but only the older models. The new ones look a bit flat and japanesey...
...I hope i get a well paying job, I'm gonna need the money for the garage to house all the bikes I wanna have...

Big twins sound great, but it's a different sound to an IL4, which sound "racey" rather than the huge "powerful" sound you get from a twin.

I've always had twins cos I love the sound, feeling the power through your bones and the way you can lay the power down in the bends.
Last time I was on an R1 at a junction turning left. When I pulled out, just looking at the trottle made the a*** step out about 2 ft and my botty opened up and almost swallowed the world.
Although I manage to get my sv to do the same under preasure, I feel alot more in control of it than I do when it happens on an IL4:smt120

My gsxr 750 will do jst over 90 in 1st gear.
Theres no better feeling than loading it in 1st in a tunnel and having the sound echo 1/2 a mile.
Pure bliss.

I chopped my Sv in for a 636 today. All I will miss of the SV is the sound that used to pop and burble from my blue flame can. Thing is, its all forgotten when your hitting 15.5k and feel like your about to headbut the horizon.
Thats me finished with the V twins for good I think :(

After being on my mates R6 plenty of times, I already know I want an IL4 of some form... however I'm keeping the SV! :)
On my route to work and back, there's only a few places you can use every last bit of power... most of my fun from going to work and back, is being thin enough to sneak through traffic that's at a stand still, and f**king off at the rights when they turn to amber! :-D
Yes I want an IL4 (My perfect bike at the moment is the BMW K1200s - black frame, black bodywork, black wheels, with the BMW badge removed!), but only when I can afford to own and run both together! :D
