Hopefully at 4pm tomorrow I will be picking up my shiny SV650S. It's only my second bike, the first was a bandit which I dropped at 30mph a few weeks after I bought it. Have been off the road for ages and can't wait to get back on two wheels. Any hints and tips for looking after it and getting the best out of it woul be greatly appreciated...Cheers.... Biggles

Welcome!!!
I've has mine for 11 months now - though I tucked her up in the garage for winter and she's only recently come out again!
Can't give you any advice, but know how you must have felt dropping your bandit. I dropped my SV last year and was gutted!:smt089 A few scuffs and a broken indicator, but one of the very lovely peeps from the forum sent me one to repair the damage!
Enjoy it!

Hi everyone, and thanks for the welcome. I can't wait to get out there, although I think I will be more sensible that I was first time round!

Hopefully they will have the right bike waiting for me tomorrow - it should be a blue SV650S - with fairing. No mods yet and knowing me, it will probably stay that way cos whenever I attempt to repair or improve anything mechanical I invariably wish I hadn't :nomore: .

Uh Oh - 2 Biggles's - Should be interesting!

I am in the Gravesend area and would love to follow along if anyone is planning a rideout in the summer :D .

If you see any vans be scared.....very scared ;), in all probability they will try and mount you on the bonnet like a stag.:p

Well it's better than I had expected or hoped. So far it has done everything just as I hoped it would. The riding position is great and the brakes are superb (well the front one anyway - I've hardly touched the back one). I think the first service will be sooner than I thought. I suppose that I should admit that when I bought the bandit a few years ago, the Runt (or H) or what ever you know him as, told me I should have opted for an SV. Oh how it hurts to admit he was right....Only kidding - Cheers H....and NO - you can't chop the back bit off and weld something from scrapyard challenge on it instead!

Be Careful of the Engine Braking.

Seconded. It'll crush yer nuts against the tank, which hurts.
