Here, here... Most other countries have a Public Holiday for their patron Saint, but then I don't think there's enough English people in the population for the Government to worry about.

I think I might celebrate St George if we had more exclusive rights to him.

He is also the Patron Saint of Canada, Catalonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Montenegro, Portugal and Serbia. I think he may even be the patron saint some disease (well the sufferers off anyway) too.

Chances are that he never set foot in our green and pleasant land anyway.
