View Full Version : It can't be - SV650s as a courier?!?!
On my way home tonight I saw a pointy SV650s (53 Plate) with a top box and a courier driving it.......
It was silver (i think) but all crudded up, so was definately being used as a courier.
It was the exact same as mine in age, colour and shape - I'm driving a courier bike arghhhhhh!
I knew I should have gone for the GSXR last week. D'Oh:smt093

Haha, you'll just see a courier on a GSX-R if you get one... :p

My courier had an SV650 last year. The engine went at about 65k. I don't think that they're built for that kind of abuse:eek:

Right that's it i'm off to buy a honda goldwing - surely nobody would courier (or even buy) that!!!
I remember an article about a bloke who courired on a streetfightered Fireplace. It takes all sorts, tho' I think a Goldwing is unlikely.

Far from it - look at courier bikes and there are very few SVs being used. Some but not many compared to GTs, CBs etc. The SV is hardly a "courier" bike really :p
And no matter what bike you choose, somone, somewhere will probably be couriering on one, though as 2mths says, unlikely on a goldwing. Guess you'll have to face it - whatever bike you get [with very very few exceptions] its going to be in your definition above, a "courier" bike :p

Now that does sound interesting! Id imagine the mantelpiece was quite an uncomfortable place to sit all day:D

Guess there could be a few Goldwing Taxi bikes out there.

Maybe the naked is more popular. I reckon that riding an SVS all week would be like sleeping on a bed of nails!! :-s

The SV's starting to get cheap... And it's quickish, tough, reliable, and it's got great parts availability, not to mention narrow and extremely nimble. Not particularily economic though. Still, people courier on absolutely anything, i saw someone with a DHL box on a brand new GSR600 last time I was down in London...

Ive seen a courier on a Hyabusa several times around North London.Hate to think what his tyre bill looks like.:D
Knew a guy who couriered a gixer.... Would have thought SVs would be neat... great at getting through the traffic...bit thirsty though
Saw a silver curvey courier yesterday. Was by my bike when I saw him, I looked at him & nodded & the wonker blanked me!
In london i have seen an R1, Fireplace, CBR600RR(new), loads of SV's, a Pan, Firstorms, and i even saw a 748 once with a DHL box on the back, so anythings possible.
I feel sorry for anybody who tries to courier on a Honda monkey bike...
Seen a couple of them as well in london

Longer distance (as opposed to London-based) bike couriers use all sorts (a 500 is after all, a bit gutless for doing 85 all day on the motorway). I've seen an FJR-1300, a Pan and a Blackbird and have even read about a Fireblade and GSX-r1000 being used!
Svs are pretty rare as courier bikes. Main ones are CB500s or similar, and the ancient kwak 550s. Anything else is generally too expensive.
Don't forget most london couriers work part time or freelance and some just get their regular bike and use that for a couple of months, or when the ****ter is in the garage. I've seen a courier box on a VMAX!
