Maybe, if you like looking at your reflection as you drive away from a shop window that is

£1800

its for the bike:rolleyes: thats why i think it will look odd........i could swap it with the one on my car:smt115
i dontthink it would look good, and you would have to explain what it meant all the time.
I have tried to find A650SVS loads of times, to no avail :( , i did not think that it would have been that expensive either?

Sorry, should have said 'ride' away from shop windows. That's the only time it'll look 'right' isn't it.
Unless you take a mirror with you to look at your rear end :smt036
I reckon it looks cr4p, but that's mainly because I hate the typeface and spacing. I just don't get the whole fancy typeface thing. Smaller plate, yes, smaller standard type, fine. Weird type and no spacing? Just irritates me for some reason
!!!!!!! Then no its not agood deal.
i have a pirvate plate. However i transfered it off the bike a couple of years back, and apprently you cant put it back on the same bike! How annoying, so its sitting on Retention until i can buy another bike, or a car thats new enough!

i would like HOV 1S
That would be even more expensive if you found it.
I know they do have a resale value but personally that's too much for me.
I don't think you would need to explain it as you say everyone knows you as Hovis. And you don't mind a one line bike plate (esp. now that ACPO are more relaxed)
£1800 takes you a lot closer to the Gixer. Would it not be cheaper to have a signwriter do you a custom lid with HOVIS on it.

i dont think you can transfer from a car to a bike, you can do it the other way round though;)

Any reason? Surely they're both DVLA registered vehicles?

I did see SV650 BAP before.
Tempted, but unique to me & the bike combined. So didn't bother.

Yu can. that law changed in 1997i think. its just that you can only transfer once on a bike. So cherished number onto a bike then off. It cant have another put on which you can on a car!!

I think it looks cool but £1800?? No way !
Thats a lot of reddies that could be used for the gixer fund....
I'm not big on private plates, so can't really comment too much.

Not a Reg number issued by DVLA

Wouldn't go on your curvy & you should be pulled if you split it like that - better on a one liner IMO
If you know about plates, do you think the £1800 has good investment potential? (Better investment than a Gixxer?) Or is it just some private person over pricing it?
Why oh why does anyone want this sort of vanity?
Cack idea and a complete waste of money.

Its funny, Hovis, but IMHO not £1800 worth of funny. Maybe a few hundred.
Anyway, your money spend it as you will :D

Hovi5, why have you got a carpet on your wall? Is it a welsh/vauxhall owner thing?
I'll never understand Anglo Saxons. Why on earth would you put a perfectly good clean carpet on the floor. It 'll get dirty.
Good idea Hovis.

Hovis, I saw a Jag today with this plate 39YT X, I realised it was a personal reg but it took me a while to realise it said X TYPE backwards, clever stuff, I was impressed. Anyhow, it reminded me of this old post of yours, I thought at the time you should go for that plate, did you do it?
I love personalised regs, my wifes Ka has Y3 SKA, reads YES KA, we think its great but everybody else thinks its w4nk!
Personally I like a 'good' private plate.
I reckon that HOVIS backwards would be cool - but not at £1800. I'd offer say £500 and if they took it great, if not walk away and not worry.
I once saw a Lotus with a plate that pretty much read that backwards, thing with a car plate is of course people do it it in the mirror from time to time. Also seen a Lupo with a plate that pretty much read that too and thought it looked cool.
I bought my Mum one which is very close to her name (she has an unusual name, I've never met or heard of anyone else with it) which I thought was a bargain at £250. She was a bit worried about having a personal plate to start with, but a number of years down the line she's used to it and likes the occasional "Is that your car?" comment. It also nicely hides the age of her car which whilst presentable is no longer in it's first flush of youth.
If I could find a decent plate for me or my machines I'd buy it. However I've never managed to come up with \ find anything good for the CG, Katana, SV or me.

Best sentence ever. :smt043
I nearly bought a private plate for mine, I think it was W650SVS. (my bike's a W plate) but I could be wrong. It was about £300. The only reason I didn't, was that I was planning to bore it out to 700cc and that would look a bit silly. What a goon.
I really like the idea, Hovis, but it's just stupid money. If you get it, I shall confiscate your bike.
I take it the wall-carpet is to stop from damaging the bike if you misjudge the parking? I had a mattress beside mine for a while when my leg was still really dodgy, I was always overbalancing it getting out of the garage. That was my leg's way of saying "Get a mattress, and balance it against the wall". Or possibly "Stop riding a bike you cretin!"

I must admit to having previously thought private plates were chavvy and a waste of money - but that was until I saw NE55 ONE on sale. And there was NE55 TWO as well, which would have been perfect for my second bike (well for whenever i get one that is) :smt061
But then i got dragged away from the DVLA website by my clearly saner other half, who told me that there were better things to spend £1800 (per plate) on. And you know what, he was probably right.
So now i pass this valuable lesson onto you as well...
DON'T BUY THE PLATE HOVIS!
DON'T BUY THE PLATE HOVIS!
im not going to get one for the bike, as i have the one on the car which i think is great
