Okay folks, the weather is getting better and the daylight hours are longer. There are some new riders around these parts who may not know the best local bike roads yet, and there are some old dogs looking for new tricks:rolleyes: .
Find your favourite road on http://maps.live.com/ zoom in for a nice shot and post the link on this thread (click share and copy to clipboard).
I give you one I found recently the A143 from Haverhill to Bury - fast and sweeping with any number of great interconnecting roads...

and an old favourite, the A1123 from Ely/Stretham to St Ives
tight, twisty, bumpy in parts but fun...

So, what you got?

Tell ya what, after the Coast and a Roast ride out on the 13th of May, I'll have a bash at planning a route that connects some of these roads together. Perhaps we could do a Tour D'Anglian. About 300 miles or so in a day.
It's borderline MIGTS/EAR territory but I thought the roads round Rutland were alright. Found a little route in a booklet.

Those roads that Law posted are awesome, and a little dangerous. The one to Uppingham has two humpbacks which can catch out the unaware. But at the end of the ride you'll have goosebumps.

Anyone know any good routes near Norwich - apart from the lovely roundabouts, all the roads with good surfaces are straight, and as soon as you find any twisties the surfaces are DIRE!! :smt013 Thats as much as I've found out around the east of Norwich to Yarmouth, up the coast road and back to Norwich...

Hi all, this is my first post in this section :) so first off a big Hello to you all. I'm based in Norwich and just started biking again after many years.
Speedygirl, I left Norwich on the Little Plumsted road the other day and it was a great little jaunt. It ends up at Acle. another and a bikers favorite (so sorry if you all ready know about it) is the coast road going by Hunstanton (very twisty). Also the old wroxham to Stalham road is good too. Some very nice bends there.
Hope this helps

If you mean the A149, we did this on the Coast and a Roast. Can be a bit iffy. Lots of dirt/gravel in the middle of your lane and is quite narrow so it's hard to avoid. Can get bogged down with tourists. Lots of twisty bits though.
I'm not a fan of the A149, I've done it twice now in both directions and whilst pleasant for a bimble I'm nowhere near a good enough rider to be able to enjoy a road like that.
I know lots and lots of little squiggly bits about, but the favourite's that most readily spring to mind for me are:
A1075
B1108
B1135.
I could go and look at a map and tell you many more beauties, but I can't be arsed at the moment (nor do I have a map!). I'll be along later with more routes!
