From what I've seen on the TV, probably the complex towards the end of the lap, where they come down the hill round the fast right hander and then brake hard as they flick to the left?
If i was going, thats where I'd watch

I'm off so I shall be along to enjoy the racing and soaking up the atmosphere. You see more racing on the box, but you can't beat the real thing.
Naah...I wont be at silverstone(I have an exam next week) but I will almost definately be at Oulton Park for the bank holiday monday...

Exam? What for?
I was rather hoping to go to WSBK at silverstone, but exams are in the way for me this year. Shame, would make a nice birthday present!

Seconded; the atmosphere trackside is better than what you get in the living room! Hearing the cheers for walker as he defended himself valiently on that sliding suzuki at brands makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. My favorite time at brands was when it was WSBK, Hodgson vs Bostrum (i think in 2001?). They where fighting like cat and dog, new elader every corner. One lap, hodgson tried a brave - brave - move on bostrum going into what was then Dingle Dell Chicane. We spectators at paddock hill watched it all on the big screen opposite, with me shouting at the top of my voice "Hodgo at dingle dell! No way! No way! No way!" the camera was onboard at this time, we didnt know whether hodgson got through or not. When he hit that apex, and Bostrum didnt pop back in front, i cried "Yes way! Hodgo on bostrum at dingle dell!!!" With the whole of paddock hill's cheering ringing in my ears!!!! A moment I'll never forget.
And in 1999, my first WSBK event. Foggy on his superpole lap was down at the first split, down at the second. Boy did he put in a fast last split! He came over the line, and the commentator shouted "Pole!!!" and the place went nuts, I went nuts, foggy went nuts. That was a great moment too.

My new flatmate is racing in the Super Duke Battle series this weekend. I can't make it, though, otherwise the fool asked if I wanted to help spanner.
Is anyone going from the Reading area? As I fancy going up, but got no-one around to ride with this weekend- and didn't want to go on my own :(
I'm going but will be camping so heading up this afternoon in the car...
My first time at a bike race!! (We follow BTCC races but never bikes).

Everybody who's going, keep an eye out for Luke Brackenbury in the Super Duke battle.
He hasn't ridden on track in 6 months, so he's crapping himself.

DanF & I went today. was absolutely bloody freezing on the way up from London - BBC weather evidently lied when they said 23C :-(
arrived just in time to watch the s'dukes from near Bridge, I had been looking forward to seeing these, or more precisely, to *hearing* these, but bridge was not the ideal place to hear 20+ dukes go thundering past at full chat
watched BSB1 from Luffield - saw the close passing thru the complex & the woodcote chicane, most entertaining. DanF was kept amused by Cal Crutchlow's flaming exhaust :-)
still bloody freezing at this point, so wandered around the stalls looking for clothing & warming drinks
the sun had come out & it had warmed up in time for BSB2, so watched from by the Abbey hairpin. could have done with there being a screen there so see Shakey & Camier's antics in the complex, but nice to sit in the sun on the grass & see the bikes come piling into the tight corner, then go howling back out again

What was Shakey thinking about when he tried that move in race 2 ?? Nowhere to go, it was obviously going to end in tears. he looks like a man desperate for points, and if he continues like that he's never going to succeed.
Rio was on top form though, and that's better for the championship.
Oh, and weazelz, it was bloody cold up there in the morning wasn't it... Good ride up the 413 though, always puts a smile on my face that road :thumright:

I'm not even sure it was a move, it looked like he lost concentration and forgot to brake.

Nah, that was a feeble and stupid attempt to put his bike in front of Haslam when there was never going to be any space for both of them, and he came off worse for it. Numpty.....
Now look at the way that Corser & JT were at it in the 2nd WSB, they both looked at "potential" opportunities, but were mature enough not to make stupid moves. And Byrne is an "ex Moto GP" rider

I'm not so sure. I recorded it and watched that "move" several times and in slow motion. Not an acceptable standard of riding at that level whatever happened. JT and Bayliss in WSBK race 2 was sheer briliance, although still scary to watch. Could have been an exibition race. :)

What do I know, excerpt from www.shakey.com:
"I got a good drive on the way out of the left and went for the gap but unfortunately Leon headed for the apex a bit earlier than I’d anticipated and I hit the back of him and fell down"

Dipstick... He's in front, he can head for the apex when he wants, especially if he is defending his position. Shakey "should" of known that was coming....
At times he shows a lack of maturity for such an experienced racer...

I can't say I'm a shakey fan; he's a thoughtless at times I think, a bit too "playboy". There was never going to be any room, I think shakey was kinda hoping he'd barge leon out of the way. It didnt look like he even braked, more rolled off the throttle and flicked it over hopeing for the best.
Ah well
I hope leon can start his BSB charge this time out at oulton, so far he;s had a bit of trouble
